Original job description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Construction Project Manager based in the United States.
We are seeking an experienced Construction Project Manager to oversee multiple ground-up commercial construction projects from preconstruction through final completion. This role offers the opportunity to lead projects across diverse sectors, including financial institutions, healthcare, education, religious facilities, and office developments. You will take ownership of project budgets, schedules, contracts, procurement, and overall delivery while ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety. Working closely with clients, design professionals, subcontractors, and field teams, you will play a central role in keeping projects on track and within budget. This is a remote-based opportunity for professionals located in Southern California, with periodic travel to project sites. It is an excellent opportunity to contribute your leadership and construction expertise in a growing, quality-driven environment. Accountabilities
As Construction Project Manager, you will lead the full project lifecycle, coordinate stakeholders, and ensure successful project execution. Your responsibilities will include:
• Manage multiple commercial construction projects from preconstruction and planning through completion and final closeout, ensuring delivery on time and within budget.
• Act as the primary point of contact for clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, consultants, and internal stakeholders.
• Develop, maintain, and monitor project budgets, cost forecasts, schedules, and financial reports.
• Review and manage contracts, scopes of work, subcontracts, purchase orders, and procurement activities.
• Oversee project documentation, including RFIs, submittals, change orders, meeting minutes, pay applications, and closeout packages.
• Coordinate with Superintendents and field teams to support project schedules, safety compliance, and quality standards.
• Lead owner-architect-contractor (OAC) meetings and provide regular progress updates to clients and leadership.
• Identify and resolve project challenges involving schedules, costs, labor, design coordination, or other delivery risks.
• Manage subcontractor performance, contract compliance, and vendor relationships.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, local building codes, and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Support project buyout, value engineering, and preconstruction planning activities.
• Build strong client relationships that encourage repeat business and long-term partnerships.
• Mentor and support Assistant Project Managers and other junior team members when needed.
Requirements
The ideal candidate combines hands-on commercial construction project management experience with strong financial, organizational, and leadership capabilities. Candidates should demonstrate:
• At least 5 years of experience as a Project Manager with a commercial general contractor.
• A proven track record of managing ground-up commercial construction projects from start to finish.
• Experience with projects involving banks, healthcare facilities, churches, educational institutions, office buildings, or comparable commercial developments.
• A bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field is preferred; equivalent professional experience may be considered.
• Strong knowledge of commercial construction methods, materials, sequencing, and execution.
• Demonstrated expertise in project budgeting, cost control, forecasting, and financial reporting.
• Experience with subcontractor buyout, contract negotiations, and procurement management.
• Proficiency with construction management tools such as Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, and Excel.
• Ability to interpret and coordinate construction drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
• Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and competing priorities effectively.
• Familiarity with Southern California building codes, permitting processes, and local construction market conditions is preferred.
• OSHA certification or additional industry credentials such as PMP, LEED, or CCM are a plus.
• Willingness and ability to travel periodically to project sites throughout Southern California.
Benefits
• Annual compensation of up to $145,000, depending on experience.
• Mileage reimbursement for eligible project-related travel.
• Healthcare stipends.
• Remote-based work arrangement for candidates located in Southern California.
