Original job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Chief Operating Officer (COO) based in the United States.

As Chief Operating Officer, you will provide executive leadership over client delivery and operational performance, helping shape the next stage of growth for a global professional services organization. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will initially drive strategic priorities focused on modernizing the delivery model before assuming broader ownership of client delivery functions. You will oversee delivery operations, practitioner leadership, resource planning, service-line performance, delivery economics, and revenue operations. A central part of your mandate will be building an AI-enabled, globally integrated operating model that improves efficiency, scalability, profitability, and client outcomes. You will work closely with senior leaders across commercial, finance, talent, technology, and transformation functions to align strategy with execution. By developing strong leaders, strengthening operational governance, and expanding global delivery capabilities, you will help create a more agile and resilient organization. This is a high-impact executive opportunity for a transformation-minded leader who can turn ambitious strategic priorities into measurable, sustainable business results.

Accountabilities

• Lead the evolution of the delivery model and progressively assume full responsibility for client delivery functions, performance, and operational execution.

• Oversee client delivery operations, practitioner leadership, service-line performance, delivery quality, client health, resource utilization, capacity planning, staffing effectiveness, gross margin performance, and cost-to-serve management.

• Design and implement a modern, AI-enabled delivery model that uses intelligent workflows, emerging technologies, and innovative talent strategies to improve quality, speed, scalability, and economic performance.

• Expand global delivery capabilities by identifying new talent markets, workforce models, delivery centers, strategic partnerships, and ecosystem opportunities.

• Develop, coach, and empower Practice Leaders and Managing Directors to take ownership of client outcomes, team development, delivery excellence, and profitable growth.

• Partner with commercial leadership to align sales and delivery operations, support strategic pursuits, strengthen client relationships, and ensure successful execution of client commitments.

• Build and lead Revenue Operations, including CRM strategy and governance, forecasting infrastructure, pipeline management, reporting frameworks, data integrity, and end-to-end commercial processes.

• Establish consistent delivery standards, governance practices, and quality frameworks to improve predictability, client satisfaction, and operational efficiency.

• Advance scalable managed services, continuous enablement, and DecisionOps offerings that deepen client relationships and create recurring value.

• Implement disciplined enterprise-wide resource management practices that balance client demand, strategic opportunities, delivery quality, employee development, and long-term organizational health.

• Collaborate with executive leadership to shape enterprise strategy, operating model evolution, service portfolio priorities, and business transformation initiatives.

• Lead organizational, market, and technology transformation by translating strategic priorities into clear execution plans and measurable outcomes.

• Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.

• Attract, develop, and retain high-performing leadership talent across multiple business functions and geographies.

Requirements:

• At least 20 years of executive leadership experience in professional services, consulting, technology services, or similarly complex, people-based organizations.

• Demonstrated experience leading large-scale global operations and delivery organizations.

• Proven track record of scaling delivery operations, improving profitability, and driving operational transformation in high-growth or evolving business environments.

• Deep expertise in professional services delivery, including resource management, utilization optimization, staffing models, delivery quality, client success, gross margin performance, and cost-to-serve management.

• Demonstrated success building and leading global delivery centers, distributed workforce strategies, or international talent ecosystems.

• Experience designing and implementing innovative delivery models, managed services offerings, operating frameworks, or commercial structures that improve client outcomes and business performance.

• Strong commercial and financial acumen, with the ability to partner effectively across sales, finance, talent, technology, and executive leadership functions.

• Proven ability to develop senior leaders, strengthen organizational accountability, and build high-performing teams across geographies and business areas.

• Exceptional strategic planning, organizational leadership, and operational management capabilities, supported by a disciplined, metrics-driven approach.

• Strong executive presence and influence, with the credibility to engage clients, board members, executive stakeholders, and senior leaders on strategic priorities.

• Excellent communication and change leadership skills, including the ability to articulate a compelling vision, align stakeholders, and lead complex transformation initiatives.

• Ability to navigate ambiguity, anticipate market shifts, prioritize effectively, and deliver results in a fast-changing environment.

• A leadership style grounded in accountability, operational rigor, collaboration, and a strong focus on client and business outcomes.

• Bachelor's degree required; an advanced degree is preferred.

Benefits:

• Annual base salary: $400,000–$500,000 USD, depending on experience, qualifications, skills, and location.

• Annual discretionary bonus: Eligibility to participate in an executive-level annual bonus program.

• Long-term incentives: Eligibility for a long-term incentive equity program, providing an opportunity to share in business success and value creation.

• Remote work: Position available remotely anywhere in the United States.

• Paid time off: Generous time off and paid company holidays.

• Paid parental leave: Support for employees and their families.

• Retirement savings: 401(k) plan with company matching contributions.

• Healthcare coverage: Highly subsidized medical, dental, and vision plans.

• Insurance protection: Company-paid life and disability insurance.

• Well-being and technology support: Monthly allowance for eligible well-being and technology expenses.

• Learning and development: Reimbursement for approved professional learning and development initiatives, within defined limits.
