Original job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an AWS Connect Developer based in the United States.

As an AWS Connect Developer, you will design, develop, and maintain cloud-based contact center solutions supporting a federal civilian agency. You will leverage Amazon Connect and AWS serverless technologies to build scalable, secure, and reliable customer interaction platforms. Your work will include developing advanced IVR workflows, Python-based Lambda functions, and secure API integrations that connect contact center services with enterprise applications and data systems. You will also automate infrastructure provisioning and software delivery using Terraform and GitLab CI/CD pipelines. Collaborating with technical stakeholders, you will troubleshoot complex issues, optimize platform performance, and ensure compliance with security requirements. This fully remote opportunity offers the chance to contribute to mission-critical federal technology solutions while sharing your expertise and mentoring other developers.

Accountabilities:

  • Design, develop, configure, and maintain Amazon Connect contact flows, including contact attributes, queue routing, call transfers, IVR branching, and error-handling mechanisms to deliver seamless customer experiences.
  • Develop and maintain Python-based AWS Lambda functions to extend contact center capabilities, validate integration responses, manage execution timeouts, and handle downstream service failures reliably.
  • Design, implement, and optimize DynamoDB data models, including partition keys, sort keys, and indexes, to support efficient contact center data storage and retrieval while minimizing hot partitions and throttling.
  • Build and maintain secure RESTful API integrations using Amazon API Gateway and AWS Lambda, incorporating request validation, authentication, authorization, data transformation, and reliable error handling.
  • Provision, configure, and maintain cloud infrastructure using Terraform, ensuring consistency, scalability, and security across deployment environments.
  • Develop and manage GitLab CI/CD pipelines to automate testing, support code reviews, and facilitate controlled promotion of applications and infrastructure changes across environments.
  • Implement security best practices, including least-privilege access permissions, secure integration boundaries, and controlled diagnostic logging to protect sensitive customer and contact center data.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve complex platform issues involving call routing, latency, availability, and service performance using Amazon CloudWatch diagnostics and contact center metrics.
  • Identify opportunities to improve system reliability, scalability, and performance through continuous monitoring, optimization, and engineering improvements.
  • Maintain comprehensive technical documentation covering contact flow logic, integration specifications, deployment procedures, and system recovery processes.
  • Provide technical guidance, support implementation decisions, and mentor junior developers to promote consistent engineering practices and high-quality delivery.
  • Collaborate with technical teams and stakeholders to ensure cloud contact center solutions meet operational, security, and business requirements.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Between 8 and 15 years of overall IT experience, including:
  • At least 3–4 years of cloud engineering experience.
  • At least 4 years of experience administering, supporting, engineering, or troubleshooting Microsoft Windows or Linux operating systems.
  • An active associate-level cloud service provider certification from AWS, Microsoft Azure, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), or Google Cloud is required.
  • Hands-on experience configuring and administering Amazon Connect, including advanced IVR design, contact attributes, queue routing, transfers, and error-handling workflows.
  • Strong proficiency in Python development, particularly for AWS Lambda functions and serverless application architectures.
  • Demonstrated experience developing RESTful API integrations, including event parsing, response validation, timeout management, authentication, authorization, and downstream failure recovery.
  • Practical experience with Amazon DynamoDB data modeling, including table design, partition keys, sort keys, indexing, and performance optimization.
  • Strong knowledge of Terraform for Infrastructure as Code (IaC), including cloud resource provisioning and infrastructure management.
  • Experience developing and maintaining GitLab CI/CD workflows for automated testing, code review, and controlled deployment processes.
  • Strong cloud scripting, automation, technical documentation, and cross-service troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Understanding of cloud security principles, particularly least-privilege access, secure API integrations, and protection of sensitive data.
  • Ability to diagnose complex technical problems, identify root causes, and implement reliable and scalable solutions.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to provide technical guidance and work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a federal background investigation to obtain access to sensitive information.

Preferred qualifications:

  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect or AWS Certified Developer certification, with professional-level cloud certifications particularly valued.
  • Experience integrating Amazon Lex with Amazon Connect, including intent recognition, slot handling, Lambda fulfillment, and fallback workflows.
  • Knowledge of Amazon Kinesis for real-time data streaming, contact center analytics, metrics, and reporting.
  • Familiarity with contact center compliance requirements, telephony concepts, and voice networking technologies.
  • Previous experience delivering cloud-based contact center solutions in federal government or similarly regulated environments.

Benefits:

  • Competitive annual salary ranging from $115,000 to $200,000, depending on experience, certifications, and qualifications.
  • Fully remote working arrangement, allowing you to work from anywhere in the United States.
  • Full-time position with a consistent 40-hour workweek and day-shift schedule.
  • No travel requirements.
  • Opportunity to work with advanced AWS technologies, including Amazon Connect, Lambda, DynamoDB, API Gateway, and Amazon Lex.
  • Exposure to modern cloud engineering practices, Infrastructure as Code, and automated CI/CD pipelines.
  • Opportunity to contribute to mission-critical federal technology and customer experience initiatives.
  • Professional development opportunities through hands-on experience with enterprise cloud architectures and industry-recognized certifications.
  • Collaborative technical environment with opportunities to mentor developers and influence engineering best practices.
