Original job description

About JM Test Systems JM Test Systems provides calibration, test and measurement equipment, and technical services across multiple business segments and service locations. We help customers in industrial, energy, manufacturing, and other demanding environments keep critical instruments accurate, compliant, and ready to perform. Job Summary - The Opportunity The next generation of electricians learns best from people who have done the work. As our Electrical Apprenticeship Instructor, you'll pass on the theory, hands-on skills, and safety habits that turn apprentices into confident, capable journey-level electricians. In this role, you will teach the required apprenticeship curriculum and train journeymen, apprentices, and other trades in NFPA 70E electrical safe work practices and Hazardous Energy Control Program (HECP) procedures. You'll travel across the customer's system, working one on one with apprentices in the field to make sure their on-the-job learning is taught and evaluated consistently. Reporting to our Business Operations Director, you'll also put your own skills to work maintaining and troubleshooting complex electrical systems. You'll thrive here if you're an experienced journeyman who loves teaching, takes safety seriously, and enjoys being out in the field. Key Responsibilities & Outcomes · Teach the craft. Instruct all required apprentice electrician curriculum, covering theory, installation, troubleshooting, and safety. · Build a safety culture. Train journeymen, apprentices, mechanics, machinists, and other trades in NFPA 70E safe work practices and HECP procedures, in partnership with the electrical safety program. · Mentor in the field. Work one on one with apprentices on real electrical tasks, ensuring on-the-job learning is instructed and evaluated consistently across the system. · Keep systems running safely. Maintain, test, repair, and troubleshoot complex electrical and electronic systems, and perform high-voltage switching under safe clearance procedures as a certified switchman. · Keep records current. Update schematics, drawings, and diagrams, and maintain calibration test and preventive maintenance records. · Stay organized on the road. Plan your weekly schedule with customers, log activity in the CRM, submit expense, mileage, and activity reports on time, and join weekly huddles with directors and the corporate training team. What You Bring ·

Required:

High school diploma or GED. ·

Required:

10 years as a journey-level electrician, or completion of a state or federally registered apprenticeship plus 7 years of journey-level experience. ·

Required:

5+ years of experience as an electrical apprenticeship instructor. ·

Required:

Strong knowledge of NFPA 70E, hazardous energy control, and high-voltage switching and clearance procedures. ·

Required:

Clear communication skills and the ability to travel and drive for extended periods, stand for long periods, and lift up to 50 lbs. in indoor and outdoor settings. ·

Preferred:

Associate's degree or technical trade school, and certification from an accredited craft instructor training program. ·

Preferred:

EPRI Level II Instrumentation Technician and EPRI Level II Test Administrator certifications. Why JM Test Systems? You'll have a lasting impact on the skills and safety of an entire workforce, with the variety of teaching, fieldwork, and hands-on technical work every week. You'll be backed by our corporate training team and leadership, with room to grow with JM Test Systems.

Benefits

· Medical, dental, and vision insurance · HSA with employer contribution · Paid time off and company holidays · 401(k) retirement plan with company matching · Company-paid life insurance · Supplemental insurance policies · Training and development opportunities · Opportunities for continued growth within JM Test Systems Equal Opportunity Employer
