Position Summary

We are currently seeking an experienced Mobile Service Technician to join our growing team!

The ideal candidate is self-motivated, independent, and has a strong background in diesel truck maintenance and repair. This position involves traveling throughout the designated service region to customer locations to diagnose, repair, and maintain commercial vehicles and equipment.

We are looking for a professional with at least 7 years of hands-on experience in automotive, diesel, or heavy equipment repair who takes pride in delivering quality workmanship, exceptional customer service, and maintaining high safety standards.

Schedule and Travel Requirements: This position operates on a flexible, customer-driven schedule, generally classified as a swing shift. Working hours, including shift start and end times, may vary based on customer availability, service demands, and business needs. Technicians must be willing to accommodate early morning, afternoon, evening, and late-night service appointments, including shifts beginning as early as 5:00 AM or extending to 11:00 PM or later.

Participation in a rotating on-call schedule is required, including responding to after-hours service calls as assigned. Schedules may change based on operational needs.

This position may also require travel outside the immediate service area, including occasional overnight stays in hotels to support customers at remote locations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional customer service to build strong relationships and promote customer loyalty.
  • Interact professionally with customers daily while representing the dealership in a positive, calm, and responsive manner.
  • Organize and prepare for daily service appointments, demonstrating excellent time management and the ability to work independently.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain commercial vehicles and equipment at customer locations.
  • Perform repairs and maintenance as outlined on repair orders in a safe, clean, accurate, and efficient manner.
  • Communicate regularly with the Mobile Service Coordinator, Parts Department, and dealership management to coordinate repairs, parts availability, scheduling, and customer updates.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of all labor hours, travel time, diagnostic procedures, and repairs performed. Technicians are responsible for properly accounting for their time and ensuring all work is documented in accordance with dealership policies and procedures.
  • Maintain ownership and accountability of assigned repair orders from initial diagnosis through completion, ensuring accurate documentation, proper billing information, and timely closure of work performed.
  • Assist with on-site service transaction completion when necessary, including reviewing repair charges, coordinating payment authorization, and processing customer payments for roadside service calls involving customers without established dealership charge accounts.
  • Maintain the assigned mobile service vehicle, tools, equipment, and inventory in a clean, organized, and professional condition.
  • Respond to emergency and after-hours service calls during assigned on-call rotations.
  • Stay current with new technology, manufacturer procedures, and technical service bulletins through ongoing training.
  • Follow all company policies, safety procedures, and applicable workplace regulations.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 7 years of hands-on technician experience, preferably in diesel, automotive, or heavy equipment repair.
  • Strong diagnostic, troubleshooting, and mechanical repair skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills and the ability to use electronic diagnostic equipment and digital repair documentation.
  • Ability to accurately track labor time, document repairs, and manage assigned repair orders.
  • Ability to professionally communicate repair charges and assist with customer payment processing when required.
  • Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, afternoons, evenings, late nights, and changing shift hours based on customer and operational needs.
  • Required participation in a rotating on-call schedule, including after-hours and emergency service calls.
  • Willingness to travel as needed, including occasional overnight trips requiring hotel accommodations.
