Original job description

One out of every two small businesses fail within their first five years, most often due to running out of cash. QuickBooks Capital is on a mission to make a dent in that statistic, by providing small businesses access to the capital they need when they need it, leveraging the data inside QuickBooks for faster and better decisioning. This way, our customers never again have to worry about not making payroll or saying no to a business opportunity. That’s how we power prosperity.

QuickBooks Capital is a nimble and high-priority start-up within Intuit that is looking to reinvent small business borrowing. We are the fastest growing SMB lending business in the market. We are looking for top talents and team members that love new challenges, cracking tough problems and working cross-functionally. In this role, you will develop, refine, and implement data-driven credit strategies and policies that support small business lending growth while managing credit risk. You will also monitor portfolio performance, investigate emerging trends and performance drivers, and translate complex analyses into clear insights for senior leaders, Capital Markets partners, and investors. If you are looking to join a fast-paced, innovative, and incredibly fun team, then we encourage you to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Own credit risk policy for QuickBooks Capital: design, test, and tune underwriting, line management, and collections policies that balance business growth with loss performance.
  • Build and maintain loss forecasts (e.g., vintage, roll-rate, and cohort-based approaches), and use them to set risk appetite, guide pricing, and inform planning and reserving partners.
  • Respond to investor and capital-partner questions on portfolio performance, loss trends, and policy changes, delivering fast, accurate, well-supported analysis in partnership with finance, treasury, and executive leadership.
  • Prepare investor-ready materials, including performance dashboards, variance-to-forecast explanations, and portfolio commentary, for senior and executive audiences.
  • Use AI tools such as Claude and Cursor to accelerate analysis: exploring data, writing and reviewing code, stress-testing assumptions, and drafting summaries, while rigorously validating outputs.
  • Use big data technology to mine massive scale transactional data to credit risk analyses and translate into actionable business opportunities
  • Utilize models and analytics tools to monitor and analyze credit portfolio performance, including delinquency, roll rates, and vintage loss curves, to identify emerging trends and risks, explain performance drivers, and communicate actionable insights to senior leaders, Capital Markets partners, and investors.
  • Dive deep into our lending portfolio performance and consolidate analytics insights/dashboards to present in front of business audience and senior/executive leaders
  • Design, implement, and monitor testing to explore new methodologies and estimate key metrics for our acquisition strategies and credit policy
  • Actively contribute creative ideas to design new financing products for our QuickBooks customers

Qualifications

  • MS/PhD in quantitative fields such as Statistics, Operational Research, Industry Engineering, Economics etc. Or Bachelor Degree in same fields with 8+ years working experience
  • 6-8+ years working experience in an analytics related role. Lending or Fintech experience strongly preferred
