About the Opportunity

INSPYR Solutions is seeking an experienced Construction Manager to support a large-scale, mission-critical data center construction program in DeKalb, IL.

This individual will be responsible for managing onsite construction, commissioning, turnover, and closeout activities while coordinating across multiple contractors, consultants, vendors, and project stakeholders.

The ideal candidate brings strong construction leadership, stakeholder management, and technical expertise in mission-critical environments. This individual must operate with an owner's mindset, independently manage assigned construction scopes, and drive successful project execution across multiple buildings and phases of development.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage onsite construction, commissioning, turnover, and closeout activities for large-scale data center projects.

• Take ownership of assigned construction scopes across multiple project phases, buildings, and infrastructure systems.

• Provide construction leadership and oversight of general contractors, subcontractors, designers, consultants, and vendors.

• Coordinate construction activities across multiple prime contractors and project stakeholders to maintain alignment with project objectives.

• Oversee mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), and connectivity infrastructure construction activities.

• Support construction execution involving building infrastructure, substations, utility systems, and mission-critical equipment.

• Coordinate construction and commissioning activities to support system readiness, testing, and successful turnover to facilities operations.

• Serve as a key interface between general contractors and facilities operations during construction, retrofits, and turnover.

• Manage construction planning, scope development, sequencing, and execution of work packages.

• Review Requests for Information (RFIs), change orders, submittals, and construction documentation to support timely issue resolution.

• Coordinate Owner-Furnished Contractor-Installed (OFCI) equipment management, material tracking, deliveries, and installation readiness.

• Develop, review, and manage Methods of Procedure (MOPs) for construction activities in live or operational environments.

• Partner with scheduling and project stakeholders to maintain construction schedules, monitor critical-path activities, and mitigate schedule risks.

• Support cost management, budget forecasting, change management, and Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) estimates.

• Conduct regular site walks, construction progress reviews, quality inspections, and work-in-progress validation.

• Coordinate with third-party QA/QC personnel to address construction deficiencies and maintain quality standards.

• Identify project risks, escalate critical issues, and independently drive solutions to maintain project momentum.

• Maintain accurate reporting related to construction progress, financials, schedules, quality, risks, and mitigation strategies.

• Promote a strong culture of safety, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.

• 7–10+ years of experience supporting large-scale capital construction projects, preferably in mission-critical or industrial environments.

• Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and connectivity infrastructure systems.

• Demonstrated experience managing onsite construction execution, contractor performance, schedules, quality, and safety.

• Experience coordinating construction activities across multiple contractors, vendors, consultants, and stakeholders.

• Understanding of MEP commissioning, equipment startup, system readiness, and construction turnover processes.

• Experience with construction project controls, RFIs, change orders, scheduling, and risk management.

• Ability to independently manage assigned construction scopes, identify risks, and drive issue resolution with minimal oversight.

• Strong communication, stakeholder management, and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to represent the project owner professionally and influence contractor performance without direct authority.

• Demonstrated adaptability in fast-paced, complex construction environments.

• Ability to work 100% onsite in DeKalb, IL.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous Owner's Representative experience on large-scale construction projects.

• Hyperscale data center or mission-critical facility construction experience.

• Experience managing construction across multiple buildings, prime contractors, or campus developments.

• Strong MEP construction experience, including electrical distribution, switchgear, generators, UPS systems, cooling infrastructure, or utility substations.

• Experience coordinating commissioning, testing, operational readiness, and turnover to facilities operations.

• Experience with live data center retrofits, MOPs, and construction within operational facilities.

• Familiarity with OFCI equipment management, material logistics, and long-lead equipment tracking.

• Knowledge of Critical Path Method (CPM) scheduling and Primavera P6.
