Job Description
The Technical Business Analyst - Workday Financials bridges Finance, Accounting and business stakeholders with Workday configuration and integration teams. This role translates financial business needs into clear functional and technical requirements, data mappings and integration specifications, and supports design, testing and deployment of Workday Financials changes and the integrations that surround them.
The analyst brings enough technical depth to engage with integration architects and developers on data flows, accounting and worktag mappings, and report requirements, while maintaining strong stakeholder, documentation and delivery discipline in a controlled finance environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Requirements: Elicit, analyze and document business, functional and technical requirements for Workday Financials (General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Expenses, Procurement, Banking and Settlement, Projects, Assets and Financial Reporting as applicable).
- Integration specifications: Author integration requirements and source-to-target mappings for inbound and outbound Workday Financials interfaces, such as journals, supplier invoices, payments, bank statements, customer invoices and billing feeds, including field definitions, transformation rules, frequency and error handling.
- Accounting and data mapping: Define chart of accounts, ledger account, worktag and accounting-rule mappings between Workday and upstream or downstream systems; support data validation and reconciliation.
- Reporting: Define report and RaaS requirements, calculated fields and data extracts for financial reporting, close and audit needs.
- Process and configuration: Document current and future-state finance processes, supporting security, business process and condition-rule design with the Workday functional team.
- Testing: Develop test scenarios and scripts, support SIT and UAT (including period-end close and reconciliation scenarios), triage defects and confirm that acceptance criteria are met.
- Controls and compliance: Ensure requirements reflect segregation of duties, approval controls and audit evidence needs, working with internal controls and audit stakeholders.
- Change and releases: Assess the impact of Workday biannual releases and feature updates; support regression testing and release readiness.
- Stakeholder management: Partner with Finance, Accounting, Tax, IT and vendor teams; facilitate workshops and communicate status, risks and dependencies.
- Delivery artifacts: Maintain backlog, user stories, data dictionaries, traceability matrices and runbooks.
