Job Description
We are seeking an experienced QA Manager to lead quality assurance and quality control activities for construction, maintenance, and capital improvement projects at an established corn processing facility in Bedford Park, IL.
This individual will oversee quality across welding, mechanical, structural, and civil scopes, ensuring contractor work meets project specifications, approved drawings, applicable codes, and owner quality requirements. The facility includes aging infrastructure and equipment, so the ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a brownfield industrial environment where existing field conditions may differ from drawings and projects must be executed around ongoing plant operations.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities Lead QA/QC activities across welding, piping, mechanical equipment, structural steel, concrete, foundations, and other civil construction scopes. Perform and coordinate field inspections to verify contractor work against IFC drawings, specifications, approved submittals, and quality plans. Oversee welding quality, including review of WPS/PQR documentation, welder qualifications, weld maps, inspection records, and NDE/NDT results. Monitor fabrication, installation, alignment, fit-up, bolting, grouting, piping, and equipment installation. Inspect civil and structural activities including excavation, reinforcing steel, concrete placement, foundations, structural steel, embeds, and equipment supports. Manage ITPs, inspection records, turnover packages, NCRs, punch lists, RFIs, and quality documentation. Identify non-conforming work and coordinate corrective actions with contractors, engineering, and site leadership. Work closely with construction managers, engineers, contractors, operations, maintenance, and safety personnel. Verify installed conditions in the field when existing drawings or documentation do not accurately reflect the facility. Participate in pre-construction meetings, contractor quality meetings, walkdowns, system turnover, commissioning readiness, and final acceptance. Maintain traceable quality records and ensure required inspection hold points and witness points are completed. Help resolve field quality issues without compromising safety, production, engineering requirements, or applicable codes.
