Required Skills & Experience

5+ years of solution architecture experience (not solely VMware administration or engineering)

Expert-level VMware experience, including:

vSphere ESXi vCenter vSAN HCX SRM Experience with VMware Cloud Foundation

Strong Nutanix experience, including:

AHV Prism Central Prism Element Strong Windows Server administration and architecture experience Strong Linux administration and troubleshooting experience Experience supporting large-scale enterprise infrastructure environments Ability to log into the environment, collect data, analyze issues, and recommend technical changes Experience with upgrades, migrations, implementation planning, troubleshooting, and complex escalations Must be able to work onsite in Chicago

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Insurance industry experience VMware certifications Level 4 escalation support experience Experience working in highly governed or compliance-focused enterprise environments Significant overall IT infrastructure experience

Job Description

Our client is looking for a senior VMware and Nutanix Solution Architect to support a large enterprise infrastructure environment for one of their clients. The role will be approximately a 50/50 combination of technical architecture and hands-on environment analysis.

This person will:

Assess the current VMware and Nutanix environment Log into systems to collect and analyze technical data Identify infrastructure issues, risks, and opportunities for improvement Develop architectural recommendations Support planning for upgrades, migrations, and implementations Troubleshoot complex infrastructure problems Serve as a high-level technical escalation resource Communicate findings and recommendations to the customer Coordinate approved changes with service owners, service delivery managers, and engineering teams

This person will not typically make production changes directly. Existing engineering and delivery teams will execute changes to maintain governance and compliance. The architect must still have enough hands-on technical depth to understand the environment, conduct the analysis, and recommend the correct solution.
