Job Description
Opportunity Insight Global is seeking a Supply Chain & Procurement Specialist for a client developing advanced power electronics and industrial hardware products. This individual will lead hands-on sourcing and purchasing activities supporting product development, prototype and pilot builds, on-site NPI manufacturing, and the transition to contract mass manufacturing. The role will work closely with Engineering, New Product Introduction (NPI), Finance, and Accounting to source components, materials, equipment, and services. This individual will also develop and manage domestic and global suppliers, negotiate commercial terms, and drive purchases from requisition through delivery and reconciliation. The ideal candidate has experience working in a fast-paced electronics, power electronics, or industrial-hardware NPI environment where designs and requirements can change rapidly.
Key Responsibilities
- End-to-End Purchasing: Convert engineering and NPI requisitions and Bills of Materials (BOMs) into Requests for Quotation (RFQs), evaluate quotes, place Purchase Orders (POs), and manage orders through delivery.
- AP & Accounting Coordination: Work directly with AP and accounting teams to route and track purchases through approval workflows, establish new vendors, process prepayments, and resolve invoice holds and matching exceptions.
- Purchase Tracking: Maintain visibility into open orders from approval through payment and proactively identify risks that could affect build schedules.
- Expediting & Lead-Time Management: Track long-lead and constrained components and collaborate with Engineering and NPI to resolve supply issues.
- Supplier Sourcing & Build Readiness: Identify and qualify suppliers supporting prototypes, low-volume production, and mass manufacturing. Confirm supplier readiness against quantity, quality, and schedule requirements for upcoming builds.
- Commercial Negotiation: Negotiate pricing, lead times, minimum order quantities, payment terms, tooling, and non-recurring engineering charges. Support Statements of Work, NDAs, and Master Service Agreements with Legal and Finance.
- Logistics & Issue Resolution: Coordinate inbound shipping and receiving, including import documentation and tariff considerations for international purchases. Drive supplier corrective actions when delivery, cost, or quality issues arise.
- Procurement Process Development: Establish scalable procurement processes, including templates, approval thresholds, preferred-supplier lists, and budget tracking.
