Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer with deep expertise in GitHub, GitLab, and CI/CD pipeline development to support a large-scale source code management modernization initiative. This role will be responsible for migrating repositories and existing CI/CD pipelines from legacy platforms, including GitLab, Azure DevOps, and Bitbucket, into GitHub, which will serve as the organization's standardized source code management platform. The ideal candidate is a hands-on developer who understands the full software development lifecycle and can design, migrate, troubleshoot, and optimize complex CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions. This is NOT a traditional operations-focused DevOps role. The emphasis is on development workflows, repository migration, CI/CD automation, and engineering standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own the migration of source code repositories from GitLab, Azure DevOps, Bitbucket, and other legacy platforms to GitHub.
  • Migrate and rebuild existing CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and reusable workflows.
  • Design and maintain complex CI/CD workflows supporting multi-stage builds, automated testing, deployments, approvals, and environment-specific configurations.
  • Analyze existing GitLab pipelines and translate pipeline functionality into scalable GitHub Actions workflows.
  • Establish and enforce best practices for GitHub repositories, branching strategies, pull requests, releases, permissions, and security.
  • Develop reusable pipeline components and automation that can be adopted across multiple development teams.
  • Troubleshoot complex CI/CD, build, deployment, and integration issues.
  • Partner with application development teams to understand existing development and deployment processes and guide their transition to GitHub.
  • Provide technical guidance and establish engineering standards around CI/CD automation, source code management, and DevSecOps best practices.
  • Support a large-scale migration initiative impacting development teams across the broader organization.
