Leadership Profile
The successful candidate will be a strategic but hands-on purchasing executive who is equally comfortable negotiating multimillion-dollar supplier programs and working through the operational realities of a decentralized branch network.
This individual should bring the sophistication of a large-scale purchasing organization without assuming that every market, supplier, or purchasing decision can be standardized. Success will require developing strong relationships, understanding regional differences, and identifying where the organization can use its considerable scale to create greater purchasing leverage.
Job Description
A leading building products and specialty construction organization is seeking a Senior Vice President of Purchasing to lead and elevate its enterprise-wide purchasing and vendor management strategy.
This executive will oversee the centralized purchasing function while driving greater consistency and purchasing leverage across regional and branch-level operations. The SVP will manage strategic supplier relationships, negotiate national purchasing and rebate programs, improve purchasing economics, and leverage the organization's scale to drive margin improvement.
The ideal candidate brings senior purchasing leadership experience within a large, multi-location organization and combines strong commercial negotiation skills with a highly relationship-driven leadership style.
Key Responsibilities
Lead enterprise purchasing strategy across a multi-billion dollar + multi-location organization. Oversee centralized purchasing leadership with broader influence across approximately 30-40 purchasing professionals throughout the organization. Manage and strengthen relationships with major doors, frames, architectural hardware, security, CCTV, and building-products manufacturers. Negotiate national purchasing agreements, rebate programs, volume discounts, pricing structures, and supplier incentives. Consolidate regional and branch-level purchasing programs to create greater enterprise-wide buying power. Identify inconsistencies in supplier pricing and purchasing programs across markets and negotiate more favorable enterprise agreements. Improve both field and stock purchasing strategies while balancing national leverage with local-market requirements. Utilize purchasing scale to improve product costs, rebates, supplier performance, and overall margin. Serve as a senior escalation point for major supplier issues and vendor relationships. Partner with executive, operations, finance, and branch leadership to align purchasing strategy with broader business objectives. Develop purchasing leadership and establish greater consistency, accountability, and visibility across the organization. Leverage data and business intelligence tools to improve visibility into spend, purchasing performance, and supplier programs.
Annual Bonus: Approximately 30%-50% of base compensation, with a significant component tied to company EBITDA performance
Equity: Significant equity participation
Location: Hybrid in Winston, Salem, NC. Relocation assistance may be provided.
