Job Description

A Fortune 500 client is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to support its Office of the CIO organization. This individual will serve as a strategic bridge between finance, business, and operational teams, with a primary focus on OpEx financial analysis, P&L management, forecasting, budgeting, and month-end variance analysis. The ideal candidate is a true financial analyst who can go beyond producing reports. This person should be comfortable working with large amounts of financial data, identifying trends and discrepancies, determining the drivers behind financial performance, and translating those findings into actionable insights for business leaders. This role is best suited for someone who naturally asks “why?” when reviewing the numbers and can independently investigate the answer.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the IT P&L, providing visibility into actual spend, budgets, forecasts, and financial performance across multiple areas.
  • Perform detailed month-end variance analysis, identifying and explaining material differences between actuals, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Analyze financial results to determine the underlying drivers behind variances and communicate the business and financial impact to stakeholders.
  • Support OpEx planning, budgeting, forecasting, accruals, and month-end close activities.
  • Analyze IT-related expenses, including contractor/resource costs, software spend, managed services, and other operating expenses.
  • Develop financial models, reporting mechanisms, and repeatable processes that make month-end and budget analysis more efficient and actionable.
  • Partner with business and operational stakeholders to understand changes in resources, spending, and business activity and determine their impact on the P&L.
  • Identify financial trends, risks, and opportunities and provide insights that enable data-driven decision-making.
  • Improve existing financial reporting processes by moving beyond piecemeal analysis toward repeatable, scalable approaches.
  • Support annual budgeting and ongoing forecasting by gathering, analyzing, and interpreting financial data.
  • Utilize Excel extensively for month-end analysis, financial modeling, variance analysis, and reporting.
  • Work with financial and operational data from systems including Workday/Adaptive and ServiceNow.
  • Help the finance organization become more proactive and strategic by turning financial information into meaningful business insights.
