- 5+ years in data engineering or analytics engineering, with at least 3 years in production dbt. We expect experience refactoring existing projects, not only building new models.

- Git and merge-request workflow experience
- Experience proving data equivalence before and after a change, such as with audit or diff tooling, and explaining purposeful differences.
Job Description
BILL's Data Enablement & Operations team owns the data warehouse that Finance, Product, Risk, GTM, and others rely on for executive reporting and planning. Our dbt project has grown to thousands of models. With that growth came deep dependency chains, redundant models, and compute cost that no one feels today. We are now running a structured model optimization and management program to fix it. You will join as a contract engineer working through that program. Your work is scoped against existing models, so the correct output is known and you can prove equivalence. You will learn our systems, processes, and dbt modeling standards quickly, and you will be expected to apply them with precision.
