Job Description

Insight Global is hiring a full-time Senior Backend Engineer for an audiovisual manufacturing company in Beaverton, OR. The Senior Backend Engineer develops cloud services, APIs, and infrastructure for our client’s audiovisual conferencing solutions used worldwide. This role centers on identity and access control, including the permission model, APIs, and workflows that determine what users can do across the platform. The initial priority is to use SpiceDB to replace fixed, organization-wide roles with permission sets, groups, and grants that reflect customers’ organizational structures.

Essential Functions

Design, build, and maintain backend microservices and APIs (REST, GraphQL, and gRPC), primarily in Go.
Design and implement fine-grained authorization (role-, resource-, and relationship-based) using SpiceDB.
Plan and carry out zero-downtime, verifiably equivalent migrations of existing customer access to the new permission model.
Build event-driven services using messaging systems such as NATS, Kafka, or RabbitMQ.
Design and maintain SQL database schemas, queries, and data migrations.
Troubleshoot and improve the reliability, security, and performance of production services.
Work with the Web, Embedded Software, Product Verification (QA), and Product Management teams to deliver features and resolve issues.
Participate in code reviews and document designs and processes in Confluence.
Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
