Job Description
Job Description
The Research Data Analyst II will support a new Health Economics Outcomes Research (HEOR) program focused on using healthcare data to better understand patient outcomes, healthcare utilization, and costs. This person will work across multiple research institutes and partner closely with researchers, clinicians, investigators, data scientists, and biostatisticians. This is a hands-on data analytics role with a heavy focus on SQL and healthcare data. The analyst will help translate research questions and study requirements into technical data requirements, pull and curate datasets from various healthcare data sources, and prepare those datasets for research and advanced analysis. The ideal candidate is someone who is technically strong in SQL but also understands the healthcare environment and can communicate confidently with non-technical and clinical stakeholders. This is not a traditional data engineering or dashboard-heavy BI role. The primary focus will be healthcare data extraction, dataset development, research support, and collaboration with the broader HEOR team.
DAY TO DAY
Support the new Health Economics Outcomes Research (HEOR) program Work with research stakeholders including investigators, clinicians, researchers, residents and fellows Meet with stakeholders to understand research questions and data needs Review research protocols and inclusion/exclusion criteria Translate research/operational requests into technical data requirements Write SQL queries and pull data from various healthcare data sources Create, curate and validate datasets for research studies Perform retrospective data pulls and support prospective datasets as needed Support research involving patient outcomes, healthcare utilization and costs Partner closely with the program’s data scientist and biostatistician, providing curated datasets for deeper statistical analysis/modeling Complete feasibility requests to help researchers determine whether sufficient patient populations/data exist for potential studies Work on a mix of shorter ad hoc requests and potentially larger, longer-term research or grant-funded projects Some Power BI/Tableau/dashboarding may come up, but dashboard development is not the primary focus of the role
