Job Description
An employer is looking for a Senior Security Engineer to join their team remotely. This individual will play a key role in strengthening the organization’s overall security posture across cloud, infrastructure, applications, and endpoints. You will initially assess the current security landscape, identify areas of highest risk, and prioritize immediate remediation efforts related to vulnerabilities, patching, configuration issues, and system hardening. From there, you will help design, implement, automate, and optimize security solutions that align with industry best practices and the needs of a growing organization. This will be a hands-on engineering role, requiring someone who is comfortable identifying security gaps as well as getting into the environment and helping resolve them.
Day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Own and drive vulnerability management and remediation efforts, helping identify, prioritize, track, and resolve security vulnerabilities across the environment.
- Lead patching, system hardening, and proactive security maintenance across endpoints, servers, cloud environments, applications, and other critical infrastructure.
- Evaluate the existing security environment and identify immediate risks, security gaps, misconfigurations, and opportunities to improve controls.
- Work across both AWS and Azure environments to strengthen cloud security, remediate vulnerabilities, and improve security configurations and controls.
- Manage and optimize endpoint security capabilities utilizing CrowdStrike and Microsoft Intune, including identifying potential threats, improving endpoint visibility, and supporting remediation efforts.
- Partner with application, infrastructure, cloud, and engineering teams to incorporate security into existing systems and new technology initiatives.
- Develop scripts to automate repetitive security activities, vulnerability remediation, reporting, system checks, and other security processes.
- Identify opportunities to reduce manual security work through automation and orchestration, improving the speed and consistency of remediation efforts.
- Evaluate and leverage AI-enabled security tooling to improve areas such as security analysis, vulnerability management, threat identification, automation, and overall security operations.
- Support application security initiatives, working with development teams to identify security concerns and strengthen applications throughout their lifecycle.
- Help establish stronger preventative security controls so the organization can identify and address vulnerabilities before they become larger security risks.
- Investigate security findings and determine root cause, rather than simply addressing individual alerts or vulnerabilities.
