Remote Postgres/Kubernetes DBA

Job Description

A client of ours is looking for a person to stand up and own a PostgreSQL database service that runs on Kubernetes. This database Administrator responsible for building and operating a highly reliable, managed PostgreSQL service running on Kubernetes. In this role, you will have the opportunity to shape the service from the ground up - from architecture and automation through production launch and ongoing operations. You will combine deep PostgreSQL expertise with modern cloud-native practices to create a secure, scalable, and self-service database platform for engineering teams. Your work will directly improve developer productivity and ensure that critical data services remain available, performant, resilient, and easy to operate.

Skills and Requirements

Must have extensive experience deploying and operating workloads on Kubernetes, including troubleshooting pods, storage, networking, and resource constraints. Extensive experience supporting PostgreSQL in production environments. Strong understanding of PostgreSQL architecture, configuration, replication, backups, recovery, upgrades, security, and performance tuning. Experience building or operating highly available and resilient database services. Automation and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Helm, or equivalent technologies. Experience with scripting or software development in a language such as Python, Go, or Bash. Ability to design reliable backup, restore, disaster-recovery, and data-migration processes.
