Job Description

We are seeking a Regulatory Reporting Data Consultant to support a large financial institution through a complex regulatory reporting, data transformation, and integration initiative.

This consultant will sit at the intersection of Regulatory Reporting, Finance, Risk, Lending, Data Governance, and Technology, helping ensure the data supporting critical regulatory submissions is accurate, governed, traceable, and aligned with regulatory requirements.

The ideal candidate will bring a combination of large-bank regulatory reporting expertise and experience with a major consulting firm supporting financial-services mergers, acquisitions, or large-scale bank integrations. This individual should understand the complexities that arise when financial institutions integrate systems, data, reporting processes, controls, and governance frameworks.

This is not a development or script-writing position. The consultant will work closely with data engineers and technical teams to define what the data needs to do, establish business and regulatory requirements, validate outcomes, and ensure the resulting data can be trusted for regulatory reporting. ________________________________________

Key Responsibilities

Regulatory Reporting & Interpretation

  • Serve as a subject matter expert for banking regulatory reporting and the underlying data required to produce regulatory submissions.
  • Interpret complex regulatory reporting instructions and translate them into actionable business, functional, and data requirements.
  • Support regulatory reporting processes associated with areas such as: o FR Y-9C o FR Y-14 / CCAR o FR 2052a o FFIEC 031 o Liquidity Coverage Ratio (LCR) o CECL
  • Understand how lending, finance, risk, and balance-sheet data ultimately flows into regulatory submissions.
  • Partner with Regulatory Reporting and Risk Governance stakeholders to align data requirements with reporting and compliance expectations.
  • Help identify inconsistencies between regulatory requirements, source data, transformation logic, and final reporting outputs.

Data Governance, Quality & Lineage

  • Orchestrate the delivery of certified, high-quality data assets used for major regulatory submissions.
  • Establish and support governed domains for critical regulatory data.
  • Define and enforce standards for: o Data quality o Data lineage o Data integrity o Traceability o Reconciliation o Business rules o Reporting controls
  • Establish clear source-to-report traceability, enabling stakeholders to understand where reported information originated and how it was transformed.
  • Identify data-quality gaps and partner with appropriate business and technical teams to drive resolution.
  • Help establish rigorous policies and controls supporting accurate and consistent regulatory reporting.

Bank M&A / Integration

  • Support regulatory reporting and data workstreams associated with a financial institution merger, acquisition, or major bank integration.
  • Help assess and reconcile differences across legacy organizations involving: o Source systems o Data structures o Data definitions o Lending products o Regulatory reporting processes o Governance standards o Data-quality rules o Controls
  • Work across business and technology teams to establish consistent data definitions and reporting requirements as platforms and processes are integrated.
  • Help ensure regulatory reporting requirements remain accounted for throughout broader integration and transformation activities.
  • Bring a consulting mindset to complex integration challenges involving multiple systems, teams, and competing priorities.

Partnership with Data & Technology

  • Translate regulatory and business requirements into clear requirements for data engineering and technology teams.
  • Work with technical teams supporting platforms such as Databricks to communicate required datasets, logic, transformations, controls, and desired outputs.
  • Understand data pipelines and transformation logic well enough to challenge assumptions, identify potential gaps, and validate that solutions meet regulatory requirements.
  • Act as a bridge between Regulatory Reporting/Finance/Risk stakeholders and Data/Technology teams.
  • Participate in working sessions involving data sourcing, mapping, transformations, reconciliation, and validation.
  • Drive reporting efficiency and data consistency by helping technical teams understand opportunities to improve or automate end-to-end data workflows.

Important: The consultant is not expected to personally write scripts or function as a hands-on data engineer. Technical fluency is important, but success in this role comes from understanding regulatory requirements and data deeply enough to direct and partner with technical teams.

$70/hr to $80/hr. - Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.

Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching.
