Job Description
The Process Engineer II will play a key role in the design, installation, commissioning, and improvement of liquid blending, storage, and handling systems within a large manufacturing and distribution facility in McDonough, GA.
This position will initially be highly field-focused, supporting the buildout and optimization of processes for water-based automotive products. The engineer will work across mechanical and chemical process engineering activities, with a strong emphasis on equipment selection, process design, capital project management, contractor oversight, installation, and commissioning.
The ideal candidate is someone who has taken process engineering projects from concept and design through installation and startup and is comfortable being hands-on in a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and improve liquid blending, storage, transfer, and handling systems with a focus on safety, quality, efficiency, and scalability.
- Design and size process equipment, including pumps, piping, storage tanks, valves, hoses, strainers, filters, flow meters, heat exchangers, and instrumentation.
- Perform engineering calculations related to fluid flow, pipe sizing, pump selection, viscosity, pressure, temperature, and tank design.
- Support the buildout and installation of new manufacturing processes and equipment associated with greenfield and facility expansion projects.
- Manage capital and process engineering projects from concept through design, procurement, construction, installation, commissioning, and startup.
- Provide contractor and vendor oversight to ensure installations meet engineering specifications and company standards.
- Partner with operations, maintenance, engineering, vendors, and contractors throughout project execution.
- Participate in FATs, equipment installation, field verification, and commissioning.
- Rework and improve existing blending systems to improve reliability, capacity, efficiency, and process performance.
- Ensure process applications and equipment installations comply with internal engineering standards and applicable codes.
- Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, equipment specifications, and cost estimates.
- Maintain accurate engineering documentation, drawings, standards, and procedures.
- Use 2D and 3D CAD tools to create and modify process layouts, schematics, and engineering drawings.
- Troubleshoot process and equipment issues during installation and startup.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and cost reduction throughout the facility.
- Communicate technical concepts, project risks, recommendations, and progress clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
