Experience with CAD, preferably CATIA, engineering drawings, GD&T, and tolerancing. Experience releasing parts and working directly with manufacturers or suppliers. Strong technical leadership and problem-solving skills. Automotive and/or electric motor design experience strongly preferred.
Job Description
A leading automotive manufacturer is seeking a Senior Motor Design Engineer to support the design, development, and localization of electric motor components for hybrid and electrified powertrains. This role will focus on moving more component manufacturing to North American suppliers and supporting locally manufactured motors.
This is a technical leadership role with no direct reports, but the engineer will mentor others and lead projects through design, supplier development, validation, and production.
Responsibilities
Lead design and development of motor components, including rotors, stators, and casings. Support localization of components with North American suppliers and manufacturing facilities. Create, review, and release 3D models and 2D engineering drawings. Apply GD&T and tolerancing to component designs. Work directly with suppliers to resolve design, manufacturing, and quality issues. Lead components through design, release, validation, and production launch. Serve as a liaison between engineering teams, suppliers, and the manufacturing plant. Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership.
