OSP Design Engineer

Required Skills & Experience

-5+ years in OSP FTTH and FTTx engineering (technical knowledge of the industry, construction practices, and local governing authority rules for placement of telecommunications facilities)

• strong understanding of large volume projects and multiple duct placements
• Familiarity with the MRE (manual for railway engineering) and how it interacts with a Fiber build
• Understanding of ARCGIS platform for grading and scaling of excavations

Job Description

Insight Global is looking for an OSP Design Engineer to join their clients growing construction team. The below are the most common roles and responsibilities.

• Assist to establish and maintain OSP design standards, engineering guidelines, and company-wide best practices
• Lead strategic network planning: market expansion, capacity growth, and multi-year build programs
• Oversee the most complex or high-risk projects (e.g., major road crossings, aerial-to-underground conversions, joint-use disputes)
• Assist to establish and maintain vendor and pole-owner relationships, including master joint-use agreement negotiations
• Drive process improvements for design efficiency, permitting turnaround, and cost reduction
• Lead cross-functional coordination between engineering, construction, operations, and regulatory/legal teams
• Review and approve high-value construction packages and budget estimates
• Mentor and technically develop OSPE I–III staff
