Required Skills & Experience

5+ Years of construction experience, ideally supporting large-scale or mission-critical projects. Strong experience coordinating directly with General Contractors, Mechanical Contractors, and Electrical Contractors in an active construction environment. Solid mechanical construction knowledge, particularly cooling infrastructure, piping, equipment installation, or other mechanical systems. Experience with liquid-cooling infrastructure, Cooling Distribution Units (CDUs), mechanical distribution, or similar mission-critical cooling systems. Strong material management and logistics experience, including BOMs, material tracking, equipment releases, deliveries, warehouse coordination, staging, shortages, and OS&D. Ability to perform regular field walks and independently verify installation progress against drawings, schedules, and project requirements. Experience managing construction schedules and look-aheads, identifying critical-path risks and escalating potential schedule impacts. Ability to review and coordinate RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, design changes, and field issues across contractors and engineering teams. Experience with QA/QC, punch lists, testing, commissioning readiness, and construction turnover. Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to lead coordination meetings and maintain risk logs, action-item trackers, progress reports, and material trackers. Comfortable operating as an Owner’s Representative, driving contractors and stakeholders toward milestones without directly managing the trade workforce. Must be comfortable working approximately 30% in the field / 70% in the office, with the flexibility to shift based on project needs.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Previous experience supporting Google data center construction or another hyperscale data center environment. Experience specifically with Machine Learning / AI compute infrastructure. Hands-on familiarity with CDUs, liquid-cooling drops, manifolds, overhead cooling headers, and rack-support infrastructure. Experience coordinating pod-by-pod or phased data hall deployments. Familiarity with Official Rack Layouts (ORLs) and reconciling rack or cooling-layout revisions against field conditions. Experience reviewing BIM models and shop drawings for constructability, routing, and clash detection. Experience with Integrated Master Schedules (IMS), Time Impact Analyses (TIAs), and 3-week look-ahead schedules. Familiarity with major data center readiness milestones such as Early Server Floor Access (EFA) and Facility Ready (FR). Experience working across Construction, Engineering, Supply Chain, Commissioning, and Data Center Operations teams. Experience coordinating testing activities such as pressure testing, flushing, inspections, and commissioning handoffs.

Job Description

This person will serve as the on-site Machine Learning Coordinator and Owner’s Representative supporting the Project Manager on the deployment of ML and liquid-cooling infrastructure within a large-scale data center environment. The role will be approximately 30% field and 70% office, with regular field walks through data halls, mechanical areas, and storage locations to validate progress and identify installation or material issues. They will coordinate closely with the GC, mechanical and electrical contractors, engineering teams, suppliers, and operations teams to keep ML racks, CDUs, cooling infrastructure, and supporting systems moving according to schedule. On the office side, they will own material and BOM tracking, coordinate equipment releases and deliveries, maintain project risk and action-item logs, lead weekly coordination meetings, track RFIs and design changes, review contractor look-ahead schedules, and communicate schedule or material risks back to project leadership. Ultimately, this person is responsible for making sure the right material is on site, the trades are aligned, field installations match the current design, risks are caught early, and ML/CDU infrastructure is ready for testing, commissioning, and turnover milestones.
