Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a Fire Control Systems Engineer to support a dynamic systems engineering team at Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division.

Responsibilities fall into three main categories:

Fire Control (FC) Requirements Development:

Work collaboratively with the SLCM-N systems engineering team, government, and industry partners to define FC subsystem and component requirements. Primary tool for requirements development is the Dynamic Object Oriented Requirements System (DOORS). Changes to requirements are made in accordance with the applicable SLCM-N configuration management processes implemented in part using Atlassian Jira. NSWCDD is the responsible organization for the FC subsystem requirements and for the FC software component requirements for the components developed by NSWCDD. Collaborate with software developers and testers to ensure that requirements are understood, are implementable, and testable. Work collaboratively with the SLCM-N systems engineering team, government, and industry partners to define FC subsystem interface requirements to external systems. FC interface requirements are defined in Coordination documents and Ordnance Documents (OD) in Microsoft Word and PDF formats. NSWCDD’s role is to provide inputs and review Coordination documents and ODs. Present FC requirements development plans and status at various FC development planning meetings and program reviews.

Technical Investigation and Whitepapers:

Conduct technical investigations and engineering analyses on potential system capabilities and emerging requirements for SLCM-N FC. Evaluate impacts to baseline system architecture, requirements, user workflows, and document these findings in formal technical reports, impact analyses, and whitepapers to guide early-stage requirements and design decisions. Technical whitepapers evaluating prospective capabilities, capability impact analysis, trade studies on design-phase alternatives, and formal engineering investigation reports. Present investigation findings during technical interchange meetings and other program meetings.

Model FC Software Architecture:

Develop FC subsystem software architecture models using the Cameo Systems Modeler. These models will integrate with models of the overall SLCM-N Weapon System. Present models during technical interchange meetings and other program meetings.

Compensation:

$60-75/hour

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.

Benefit packages for this role will start on the 1st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Employees in this role are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
