Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline. At least five years of experience supporting instrumentation, controls, electrical controls, automation, or safety-related systems. Experience reviewing technical requirements, control-system descriptions, software-requirement specifications, or implementation documents. Working knowledge of control-system functions such as set points, alarms, permissives, interlocks, equipment states, and operability requirements. Experience working in a nuclear, power-generation, defense, aerospace, or other safety-related environment. Ability to perform detailed, task-focused document reviews and clearly document discrepancies, comments, and recommended corrections.

Commercial nuclear, DOE nuclear facility, or advanced-reactor project experience. Experience reviewing safety-related or quality-affecting software and control-system requirements. Familiarity with nuclear quality-assurance, configuration-management, and document-control requirements. Previous experience with independent verification, two-person review, or comparable quality-review practices. Ability to work independently while escalating questions through an established technical lead.

Job Description

Insight Global is looking for a SolidWorks CAD Designer to support a client project by providing independent modeling and drafting support for fire-protection equipment, electrical I&C enclosures, sensors, connectors, connection boxes, mounting arrangements, and related mechanical components. Using SolidWorks, this individual will translate engineering specifications and preliminary concepts into complete 3D models and production-quality drawings while applying established drafting standards, GD&T, and revision-control requirements. The designer will independently evaluate component fit, mounting, clearances, mechanical interfaces, manufacturability, and overall design integration while working closely with mechanical, electrical I&C, and fire-protection engineers to incorporate technical feedback and design changes. Approximately 60% of the work will support electrical applications, but the position is focused on the physical and mechanical representation of electrical equipment rather than electrical schematic design. Salary ranges from 80K-120k depending on experience.
