Design Engineer

Required Skills & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering Technology, or equivalent
• 2-5 years of engineering experience o Previous internship experience can be considered
• SolidWorks and AutoCAD
• Plastics experience is required o Plastic product design or equipment/machine design supporting plastics manufacturing
• Experience with injection molding, blow molding, and/or extrusion
• Experience working in a manufacturing or R&D environment

Job Description

• Execute design and automation projects for pipe and allied manufacturing plants
• Design custom equipment/machinery used in the manufacturing process
• Complete initial designs internally using SolidWorks and AutoCAD
• Work with outside vendors on equipment or designs that are outsourced
• Modify and improve existing equipment and machine designs
• Work closely with project teams, vendors, and plant teams to coordinate design and project status
• Support projects from initial design through installation: o Scope the design o Travel to plants to take measurements and understand requirements o Develop and mature the design o Coordinate with vendors during equipment fabrication o Support equipment installation from a design/engineering standpoint
• Candidate can come from machine/equipment design or product design, as long as they have the required plastics experience
• Support process improvements
• Approximately 25% travel when projects require onsite scoping, measurements, or installation support
