Original job description

Required Skills & Experience

  • BS in Electrical, Computer, or Mechanical Engineering with a controls focus. Military experience is welcome but does not substitute for the degree.
  • About 3 years of experience in embedded motor control.
  • Embedded C or C++ on microcontrollers, and working knowledge of control theory (PID, state-space, or field-oriented control).
  • Hands-on at the bench: comfortable with oscilloscopes, function generators, power supplies, DMMs, and soldering and rework.
  • Clear technical writing; documentation will take roughly 30 to 40 percent of your time.
  • Availability for extended hours and weekend work during test campaigns and program deadlines.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

  • Experience with motor control in defense, aerospace, robotics, or UAS products.
  • MATLAB or Simulink modeling, or Python for test data analysis.
  • Experience designing for shock, vibration, and temperature environments (MIL-STD-810).
  • Personal electronics, robotics, or engineering projects outside of work.

  • Select and integrate motors, drivers, encoders, and sensors with the mechanical team.
  • Bring up and debug hardware at the bench using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and function generators.
  • Plan and run bench, environmental, and range tests, and turn results into design changes.
  • Write test procedures, test reports, and design records to a standard that holds up in customer and safety reviews.
