Controller / Senior Bookkeeper

Required Skills & Experience

2+ years of bookkeeping, staff accounting, or related accounting experience Strong knowledge of general accounting and bookkeeping principles Experience with accounts payable and accounts receivable Experience completing bank and account reconciliations Hands-on experience with month-end close Ability to maintain financial records for multiple legal entities or businesses Experience preparing financial information and coordinating with outside CPAs or tax professionals Experience with QuickBooks or comparable accounting software Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently Ability to work 100% in-office in Birmingham, AL

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Controller / Senior Bookkeeper to independently manage day-to-day accounting activities across multiple business entities. This person will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, handling transactional accounting, completing reconciliations, supporting month-end close, and coordinating tax-related activities with external accounting partners.

The ideal candidate has strong hands-on bookkeeping or staff accounting experience and is comfortable taking ownership of accounting functions in a smaller, fast-paced environment. A traditional corporate Controller background is not required.
