Job Description

The Construction Project Manager will lead complex industrial construction, infrastructure, facility, utility, and expansion projects from initial concept and business case through design, procurement, construction, commissioning, acceptance, and closeout. This individual will serve as the owner-side project manager, coordinating internal stakeholders, architects, engineers, general contractors, subcontractors, procurement, legal, finance, regulatory authorities, and external consultants. The Construction Project Manager will be accountable for project safety, scope, cost, schedule, quality, permitting, contract administration, change management, risk mitigation, and executive reporting while minimizing disruption to active operations.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead and oversee multiple complex construction and infrastructure projects, including facility expansions, energy and utility systems, warehouses, civil/site work, process foundations, parking and traffic improvements, and modifications to operating facilities. Projects may range from approximately $2,500 to $200 million.
  • Develop project scopes of work, execution strategies, scope boundaries, work breakdown structures, milestone schedules, budgets, cash-flow and funding forecasts, risk registers, decision logs, and project governance reporting from feasibility through final handover.
  • Coordinate internal stakeholders and technical disciplines, including production, maintenance, facilities, logistics, IT, safety, environmental, fire protection, electrical, mechanical, civil, structural, architectural, controls, and quality teams, along with external design firms, general contractors, and specialty subcontractors.
  • Review drawings, specifications, calculations, layouts, models, submittals, RFIs, shop drawings, commissioning plans, and contractor schedules for constructability, completeness, compliance, interfaces, and operational impacts.
  • Prepare and manage RFP/RFQ packages, technical bid evaluations, contractor qualifications, procurement requests, purchase requisitions, purchase orders, contract packages, and recommendations for award in coordination with Procurement and Legal.
  • Administer owner-side construction contracts and commercial controls, including GMP/cost-plus and lump-sum arrangements, invoices, payment applications, forecasts, contingencies, allowances, value engineering, change orders, claims, notices, and audit support. Manage annual CAPEX forecasts and cost projections ranging from approximately $5 million to $100 million.
  • Manage project schedules and critical paths, including contractor baseline and recovery schedules, long-lead equipment, permitting milestones, shutdown windows, process-equipment interfaces, commissioning readiness, and substantial-completion commitments.
  • Lead project governance and stakeholder meetings, including design reviews, contractor steering meetings, award committees, funding reviews, site coordination meetings, change-management forums, and executive project updates.
  • Coordinate permitting, zoning, environmental requirements, and authority approvals with design partners and local agencies. Ensure required permits, inspections, mitigation requirements, and closeout documentation are properly addressed.
  • Monitor field execution through site walks and construction reviews, ensuring compliance with OSHA requirements, quality standards, logistics controls, work permits, shutdown procedures, and protections for active operations, employees, and physical assets.
  • Manage testing, inspections, commissioning, punch lists, defect remediation, training, acceptance, warranty follow-up, as-built documentation, turnover packages, and final project closeout.

The salary range for this position ranges from $100,000 to $150,000 depending on experience.
