Job Description
The Machine Operator is responsible for safely operating CNC and/or conventional production equipment to manufacture precision components according to established work instructions, drawings, and quality requirements. This role primarily involves loading, operating, monitoring, and unloading machines set up by qualified personnel, while performing routine inspections, documenting production activity, identifying quality concerns, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Operate CNC mills, CNC lathes, and other assigned manufacturing equipment in accordance with job travelers, work instructions, setup sheets, drawings, and production schedules. Safely load raw materials, fixtures, and parts; monitor established machine cycles; unload completed parts; and clear chips as required. Inspect parts at required intervals using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, pin gauges, and other assigned inspection tools to ensure dimensional and visual requirements are met. Identify and report dimensional variations, damaged tooling, unusual machine conditions, or other production concerns to the supervisor or setup machinist. Make authorized tool-offset adjustments within established limits when properly trained and approved. Identify and properly segregate nonconforming or questionable materials. Accurately complete job travelers, inspection records, labor entries, material transactions, and other required production documentation. Maintain proper part identification and traceability throughout the manufacturing process. Meet established quality and productivity expectations while handling parts carefully to prevent damage, contamination, or loss of identification. Perform routine machine checks, cleaning, lubrication, and basic preventive maintenance as assigned. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while following all company safety procedures and required PPE guidelines. Follow applicable ISO 9001, AS9100, ITAR, and company quality-system requirements. Assist with deburring, cleaning, inspection, packaging, and other production activities as needed.
