Job Description
The Campus Design Manager will represent the owner and lead multidisciplinary design delivery for a large-scale, multi-building data center campus in Charlotte, NC. This individual will oversee design coordination across civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, controls, utilities, security, networking, and other supporting infrastructure.
The Design Manager will lead the design process from design development through construction, commissioning, and operational turnover, ensuring all disciplines are properly integrated and aligned with project requirements. Responsibilities include managing architects and engineering consultants, leading interdisciplinary design reviews, identifying constructability and coordination issues, tracking design schedules and deliverables, resolving technical conflicts, and coordinating design decisions with construction, procurement, commissioning, project controls, and operations teams.
This person will also support long-lead equipment strategy, vendor technical reviews, submittals, design changes, and critical project decisions. They will be responsible for identifying design risks early and driving issues to resolution while balancing safety, reliability, quality, schedule, cost, constructability, maintainability, and long-term operations.
This is a senior, on-site leadership role requiring someone who is technically credible, proactive, decisive, and comfortable managing multiple workstreams in a fast-paced project environment. The underlying design role specifically emphasizes multidisciplinary coordination and ownership across design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and turnover.
