Job Description

Insight Global is looking for an Analytics Manager / Business Insights Manager to lead and develop a small team of analysts while remaining highly hands-on in the actual analytical work. This is a true player-coach role. The manager will personally write SQL, investigate complex or ambiguous business questions, review analysts' work, prioritize incoming requests, and communicate findings directly to senior leadership.

A typical assignment could start with leadership identifying an unusual subscriber, revenue, billing, or engagement trend. This person will determine how to investigate it, query the underlying data, partner with the appropriate stakeholders, identify what is driving the trend, and present a concise explanation and recommendation back to leadership.

A major priority will also be helping the organization establish a more consistent source of truth for business metrics. The manager will partner across the organization to define metrics and business logic, then work with Data Engineering to ensure those definitions are represented appropriately within the data environment.

The broader organization is currently modernizing its data environment, including a migration to Snowflake and a move from Mode to Omni for BI/reporting. This person will help rebuild dashboards and reporting while improving how Analytics prioritizes and delivers work. This is a fully remote role and a contract to hire position.

Day to Day

  • Standardize metrics ○ Work across business functions to define the company's core metrics. ○ Establish consistent definitions, filters, calculations, and business logic. ○ Partner with data engineering to eventually embed that logic into the company's semantic/data layer.
  • Executive & stakeholder partnership ○ Work directly with senior leaders. ○ Own significant analytics work coming out of the weekly executive review. ○ Translate business questions into actionable analytics work. ○ Help determine which analytics problems should actually be prioritized.
  • People leadership ○ Coach and mentor analysts, particularly more junior team members. ○ Review and guide their work. ○ Help improve the overall quality of analytics delivered by the team.
  • Remain hands-on ○ This person will be expected to write SQL daily, potentially multiple times per day. ○ Perform their own analysis rather than simply delegating work.
  • Presentation/storytelling skills are critical because the previous search struggled to find candidates who could combine analytics skills with strong executive presentation capabilities.
