Job Description
Insight Global is seeking an experienced Lead CNC Machinist / Shop Supervisor to oversee daily machining operations on second shift. This individual will serve as the technical leader on the shop floor, supervising and mentoring a team of CNC and manual machinists while ensuring production schedules, quality standards, and safety requirements are consistently met. Following an initial onboarding and training period, the supervisor will be responsible for assigning work, overseeing machine setups, troubleshooting machining issues, and supporting machinists throughout the manufacturing process. They will provide hands-on leadership across CNC lathes, CNC mills, manual lathes, and manual mills, ensuring jobs are completed accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with customer and federal quality requirements. The Supervisor will review drawings, validate machine setups, monitor production progress, and coordinate priorities to keep projects on schedule. Projects may range from short-run jobs lasting several hours to larger manufacturing efforts spanning multiple weeks. The team primarily machines stainless steel components, with occasional work involving aluminum and copper materials. While a dedicated CNC programmer is available onsite, the Supervisor should possess a strong understanding of G & M codes, machining best practices, tooling selection, and process optimization to effectively guide the team and resolve technical challenges. Additional responsibilities include coaching machinists, maintaining quality documentation, conducting inspections, promoting a strong safety culture, and serving as the primary point of contact for shop floor production during the shift.
