About the role: The Maintenance Supervisor is a working supervisor and will spend most of the day hands-on – troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining production equipment and critical utilities in our GMP-regulated manufacturing facility – while setting the pace and standard for the maintenance technicians and mechanics in the team. This is not a desk role. This individual will be the first person on the problem when a line goes down or when a boiler, chiller, or RO system acts up. The Maintenance Supervisor will keep preventive maintenance on schedule, keep work orders and records accurate, and keep every system running safely and in compliance with GMP and FDA standards. This role is fully on-site in our new Mesa, AZ facility.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Hands-On Troubleshooting & Repair

  • Personally diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues on production, filling, packaging, and utility equipment.
  • Respond first to breakdowns and emergency calls, working the problem directly to get lines back up fast.
  • Read schematics, P&IDs, and electrical drawings to trace faults; use multimeters, PLC interfaces, and diagnostic tools on the floor.
  • Perform rebuilds, alignments, part replacements, and minor fabrication as needed.
  • Take a regular spot in the on-call rotation.

Utilities & Facilities Systems

  • Run, maintain, and repair critical utility systems yourself, including:
  • Boilers and steam distribution systems
  • Chillers, HVAC, and environmental controls
  • Reverse Osmosis and purified water systems
  • Sanitization systems
  • Perform daily rounds, readings, and adjustments to keep these systems within GMP performance and quality requirements.

Preventive Maintenance & Reliability

  • Perform and oversee preventive and predictive maintenance so it gets done on schedule and done right.
  • Lead hands-on root cause analysis of recurring failures and implement the fix, not just the report.
  • Look for practical improvements that reduce downtime and make equipment easier to maintain.
  • Support equipment installation, commissioning, and validation (IQ/OQ/PQ) for capital projects, including hands-on installation work.

Working Crew Lead

  • Lead a small team of maintenance technicians and mechanics by working alongside them and setting the standard.
  • Assign and prioritize daily work, build schedules and on-call coverage, and train technicians on the job.
  • Keep safety front and center: LOTO, PPE, and safe work practices on every job.

Compliance & Documentation

  • Close out work orders accurately and keep asset records and maintenance history current in the CMMS.
  • Follow GMP, FDA, OSHA, and internal quality standards on every job; keep documentation audit-ready and support inspections.

Collaboration

  • Work directly with Production, Quality, and Warehouse to schedule maintenance around production and support scale-up.
  • Coordinate outside vendors and contractors for specialized work, and work alongside them on site.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Manufacturing Operations.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in maintenance, facilities engineering, or utilities within a GMP-regulated environment (pharma, biotech, cosmetics, or food).
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience managing maintenance teams in a manufacturing setting.
  • Strong technical expertise in:
  • Boilers and steam systems
  • Chillers, HVAC, and environmental systems
  • Reverse Osmosis and sanitation systems
  • Mechanical, electrical, and control systems (PLC knowledge a plus)
  • Proven experience building and managing preventive/predictive maintenance programs.
  • Strong understanding of GMP, FDA, and OSHA requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics and engineering drawings.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead continuous improvement initiatives.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform repetitive movements.
  • Ability to stand, bend, and climb for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working in manufacturing environments with exposure to chemicals, powders, and equipment noise.

Our company is dedicated to providing equal employment opportunities and embraces diversity and inclusion in our workplace. All eligible candidates will be considered for employment without bias towards their race, ethnicity, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, genetic information, disability, age, or veteran status. Benefits: Life, Dental, Vision, Health, 401k, PTO
