Direct Support Professional (DSP) / Individual Support Worker
Infinity Healthcare Services | Montana Residential Services
About the role
Infinity Healthcare Services is seeking Direct Support Professionals to support adults with developmental disabilities in residential and community settings. DSPs help people build daily living skills, participate in their communities, and make choices about their lives while protecting their health, safety, dignity, and rights.
This role requires dependable attendance, sound judgment, clear communication, and accurate documentation. Support is guided by each person’s Individual Plan of Care, behavior support plan, healthcare needs, and authorized services.
What you’ll do
- Provide individualized supervision and support in the home and community.
- Assist with daily routines such as personal care, meals, mobility, housekeeping, laundry, and appointments, as assigned.
- Encourage independence, relationships, recreation, self-advocacy, and meaningful community participation.
- Follow each person’s approved support plans, health and safety protocols, and supervision requirements.
- Use approved prevention and de-escalation strategies within your training and authorization.
- Recognize changes in health, behavior, or safety and promptly report concerns.
- Complete clear, accurate, and timely shift notes, service records, and incident reports.
- Communicate professionally with the people we support, their families and guardians, coworkers, supervisors, and care teams.
- Complete required training and maintain the qualifications needed for your assignment.
Medication duties may be assigned only after all required training, certification, participant-specific requirements, and management authorization have been verified.
Qualifications
- At least 18 years old and legally eligible to work in the United States.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Ability to complete required background and registry screenings.
- Ability to follow written support plans, respond appropriately to emergencies, and perform assigned duties safely.
- Willingness to complete required orientation, First Aid and CPR, behavior support training, and other role-specific training.
- Caregiving, healthcare, behavioral health, or residential support experience is preferred.
A valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and vehicle documentation may be required for assignments involving transportation.
Training and support
New employees receive orientation and training for their role and the people they support. Infinity also requires completion of an approved 40-hour Behavior Technician course. Employees must demonstrate competency and receive authorization before working independently or performing duties that require additional clearance.
Schedule and work environment
DSPs work in residential homes and community settings. The job may involve standing and walking for extended periods, assisting with personal care and mobility, responding to emergencies, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be available in accordance with applicable law.
Because residents rely on continuous support, DSPs must arrive on time, communicate scheduling concerns promptly, and complete a safe handoff before leaving a shift.
