Illuminate USA is looking for an Associate BI Analyst to join the Business Intelligence team and build hands-on skills in Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, and SQL while contributing to the dashboards, reports, and semantic models that turn plant floor and enterprise data into trusted, decision-ready information. This is an entry-level, developing role: you will build and maintain reports and datasets of low to moderate complexity under the guidance of the BI Analyst team, growing over time toward independent ownership of BI assets.

You will spend most of your time in Power BI, SQL, and the underlying data models, working closely with the other BI Analysts and, as needed, with Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, Quality, and Plant leadership, to help connect data from ERP, MES/OT systems, and the warehouse management system (WMS) into governed, reusable BI assets.

Key Responsibilities

BI Development & Delivery

  • Build and maintain straightforward dashboards, self-service reports, and recurring scorecards in Power BI under the direction of the BI Analyst team members.
  • Write and maintain basic to intermediate DAX calculations and Power Query transformations for reports in your area, following the team's data modeling standards.
  • Support translation of business requirements into report designs and help run user acceptance testing with business stakeholders before release.
  • Develop working familiarity with Microsoft Fabric (lakehouses, Dataflows Gen2, semantic models) by assisting on builds led by the Senior BI Analyst.
  • Perform first-pass troubleshooting of data quality, performance, and refresh issues in reports and datasets you support, escalating more complex issues to the Senior BI Analyst.

Learning & Development

  • Actively build proficiency in Power BI, DAX, SQL, and Microsoft Fabric through guided project work, training, and peer review of your builds.
  • Seek review and feedback from the Senior BI Analyst or Lead BI Analyst on new reports before release and incorporate that feedback into future builds.
  • Follow the team's BI development standards, including naming conventions, folder structure, version control, and documentation practices.

Data Governance Support

  • Apply enterprise data governance standards, including master data definitions and metadata, to the BI assets you build.
  • Maintain metric definitions and calculation logic for reports you own in the enterprise metrics library, keeping them accurate and free of duplication.
  • Flag data quality issues found during report development to the Senior BI Analyst, appropriate data steward, or system owner.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Participate in requirements-gathering sessions and demos with business users alongside the BI Analyst team.
  • Coordinate with the Infrastructure and Applications teams, as directed, on data source connectivity and refresh scheduling for reports you support.
  • Support BI's participation in the IT Change Management process (Change Request Form, CAB review) for changes affecting reports or datasets you own.

Qualifications

Required

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 0-2 years of experience in business intelligence, data analytics, or a related field; internship or academic project experience with Power BI or SQL is welcomed.
  • Working knowledge of SQL and basic data modeling concepts.
  • Exposure to Power BI (report building, basic DAX, Power Query) through coursework, internship, or self-directed projects.
  • Strong attention to detail, willingness to learn, and ability to take direction and feedback from senior team members.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain your work to non-technical audiences.
