Wireless Technician

IdeaTek is looking for a Wireless Technician to support our growing wireless network throughout Wichita, El Dorado, Andover, and surrounding communities. In this role, you’ll serve as a trusted field resource for residential and business customers, combining technical skill, sound judgment, and strong customer service to help deliver a reliable experience.

A Day in the Life You’ll spend most of your day in the field completing wireless installations, troubleshooting connectivity issues, and performing repairs at residential and business locations. You may install service drops, configure gateways and WiFi equipment, climb ladders, operate a bucket truck, or work through a service issue directly with a customer.

Every stop is a little different, so you’ll need to be adaptable, safety-focused, and comfortable working independently while keeping customers informed along the way.

Location The individual in this role will support IdeaTek Wireless services throughout Wichita, El Dorado, Andover, Kansas, and surrounding communities.

What You’ll Do

Key responsibilities include:

• Perform wireless installations and repairs for residential and business customers.
• Diagnose and resolve customer connectivity and service issues accurately and efficiently.
• Install, configure, and troubleshoot customer equipment, including gateways, WiFi, and related wireless technology.
• Install and repair VoIP services as needed.
• Install service drops from the terminal or network equipment to customer homes or businesses.
• Provide an outstanding in-home and business customer experience through friendly, patient, and knowledgeable service.
• Work safely in aerial and underground environments, including operating bucket trucks and climbing ladders.
• Maintain a working knowledge of wireless network infrastructure and continuously build technical skills.

What We’re Looking For

To be considered for this role, you'll need the following required qualifications:

• 2+ years of relevant work experience in a field-based technical role (e.g., installer, electrician, HVAC, or other low-voltage work).
• Must possess or be willing to obtain a Class A/B CDL license.
• Valid driver's license with no restrictions.
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and lift up to 80 lbs.
• Flexible schedule with the ability to work an on-call rotation, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as well as regular Saturdays and/or Sundays.
• Comfortable working in underground and aerial environments, including climbing ladders up to 32 ft.
• Ability to enter and operate a bucket truck with a weight limit of 300 lbs.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and collaborative software.

• Previous experience in the telecommunications, broadband, wireless, or internet service industry.
• Familiarity with wireless internet equipment, WiFi, gateways, or customer premise equipment.
• Experience troubleshooting customer connectivity or network-related issues.
