Original job description

Introduction

In this role, you'll work in one of our IBM Consulting FutureNow Centers, where we deliver deep technical and industry expertise to a wide range of public and private sector clients around the world. Our delivery centers offer our clients locally based skills and technical expertise to drive innovation and adoption of new technology.

As an Associate, at IBM, you'll work with clients to help solve real-world business challenges through technology, innovation, and consulting.

From day one, you'll gain hands-on experience on real client projects while receiving professional and technical mentorship, career coaching, and access to certification opportunities.

At IBM, AI is part of how we deliver solutions, accelerate development, analyze data, automate business processes, and help clients solve complex business challenges. You'll also develop the consulting, communication, and collaboration skills needed to work effectively with clients and multidisciplinary teams throughout your career.

Your role and responsibilities

As an Associate Application Developer at IBM, you'll help organizations transform how they serve customers, improve operations, and accelerate digital innovation through modern applications and cloud technologies.

No two projects are exactly alike. You could support healthcare, financial services, public sector, federal sector, automotive, energy, retail, industrial, or manufacturing clients. You'll gain hands-on project experience, professional and technical mentoring, career coaching, industry-recognized certifications, and exposure to emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence and automation.

Your journey is unique, and so is your career path. As you begin your career at IBM, you'll be aligned to the technology practice that best matches business needs, your academic background, technical skills, project experience, and career interests. Many of our associates join IBM with a broad foundation in computer science or software engineering, not prior experience in a specific platform or technology.

You do not need experience in every listed technology.

Through structured learning, mentorship, certifications, and hands-on client projects, you'll build specialized expertise within your assigned practice while developing the consulting, communication, and technical skills needed to solve complex business challenges.

As a parte of Oracle practice, focused on helping organizations modernize and optimize enterprise business processes through Oracle applications that support finance, supply chain, human resources, procurement, enterprise performance, and digital transformation.

Each practice represents a specialized team focused on helping clients solve different business challenges through leading technologies, industry expertise, and consulting. No two projects are exactly alike, you could support clients across healthcare, financial services, public sector, federal sector, automotive, energy, retail, industrial, or manufacturing industries. You'll gain hands-on project experience, professional and technical mentoring, career coaching, industry-recognized certifications, and exposure to emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence and automation.

We're not looking for experts - we hire for potential, curiosity, and a passion for learning. Whether you've built software in the classroom, participated in hackathons, completed internships, or worked on personal projects, we'd love to meet you.

During your first year, you'll build technical expertise, earn certifications, contribute to client projects, strengthen your consulting and communication skills, and establish a strong foundation for long-term career growth at IBM.

To give yourself the best opportunity for success, we advise applying only to roles that align with your skills and experience, rather than applying broadly across all entry-level positions. You’ll receive a status update email for each application, so be sure to check your IBM Careers account regularly - it’s the best way to get a centralized view of which roles you have active applications against.

Required technical and professional expertise

Currently completing or recently completed a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
Foundational knowledge of programming languages such as Java, SQL, Python, JavaScript, or similar technologies.
Understanding of software development fundamentals, databases, APIs, cloud computing, and enterprise applications.
Exposure to application development, data, or cloud-related projects through coursework, internships, research, or personal learning.
Familiarity with Git or similar version control tools.
Curiosity about enterprise technologies, Artificial Intelligence, cloud solutions, and digital transformation.

You don't need to be an expert to get started. We're looking for individuals with a strong foundation, a growth mindset, and a desire to learn and make an impact.

Bring your curiosity. Grow your skills. Build what's next - like an IBMer.

Preferred technical and professional experience

Exposure to Oracle technologies, enterprise applications, databases, or cloud platforms.
Familiarity with ERP systems, business applications, integrations, or modern application architectures.
Interest in Oracle solutions, Artificial Intelligence, and continuous learning.

IBM is committed to creating a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal-opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, caste, genetics, pregnancy, disability, neurodivergence, age, veteran status, or other characteristics.
