Original job description

Description

About Our Team Our employees thrive in a culture that's fast-paced and ego-free, where innovation and collaboration are encouraged at every turn. We are an organization that provides federal agencies instant access to experienced and talented professionals who understand their unique challenges and know the most efficient ways to address them. We are continually investing in resources and talent, so we stay prepared with specialized teams in place who are experts in creating tailored technologies. Our solutions empower Federal organizations to grow, modernize, and succeed in a rapidly evolving landscape. We value all voices and want to attract talent from all backgrounds. We're on the lookout for individuals who are passionate about technology and thrive in environments where problem-solving is approached with creativity and enthusiasm. If you're someone who enjoys continuously expanding your skill set while tackling real-world business problems, you'll feel right at home with us. Veterans and military spouses are especially encouraged to bring your unique and valuable experience to our team. About the Role Our team is seeking a Senior Power Apps/Power BI Developer to join our fast-growing IT-project based consulting business. We need a team member who is ready to design, architect, and lead the implementation of innovative Power Platform and business intelligence solutions to support the missions of our customers. We have several large projects, some established, some just getting started, at the Department of Veterans Affairs and we need smart team members to help us deliver. The successful candidate will be an inquisitive problem solver with the ability to quickly analyze the needs of specific projects and architect and implement effective solutions. In this fully remote role, you will lead the design of Power Apps interfaces and enterprise-scale reporting that leadership uses to measure program performance and contractor accountability, and guide the team toward creative solutions to our customers' challenges. Join our development team and help us positively impact the lives of millions of Veterans through innovative, data-driven, and user-centric solutions. You will work and collaborate on a team of project managers, business analysts, developers/engineers, and QA staff within an Agile environment. As a crucial member of our team, you will also be expected to interface with client representatives, including product owners, business owners, technical leads, and solution architects.

Responsibilities

Architect Power BI data models, reports, and executive dashboards, including complex DAX measures and Power Query transformations.
Design local, regional, and national reporting using dashboards, charts, maps, and other visualization formats.
Design and oversee the integration and transformation of data from Microsoft SQL Server, enterprise data warehouses, and external partner data sources that refresh daily.
Own Power BI data gateway configuration, refresh strategy, and troubleshooting.
Lead data quality analysis to identify trends, outliers, and issues requiring upstream remediation, and coordinate remediation with data owners.
Define role-based access and row-level security patterns for applications and reports.
Ensure applications and reports meet Section 508 accessibility requirements.
Optimize report and data model performance for large datasets and high user volumes.
Lead requirements analysis and estimate level of effort.
Participate in quarterly PI Planning and lead backlog refinement with product owners.
Establish source control, branching, and deployment practices using Git (e.g., GitHub).
Collaborate with product owners, business owners, technical leads, and solution architects to produce software design and architecture documents.
Support security and Authority to Operate (ATO) compliance activities.
Perform code and design reviews of apps, reports, and data models.
Develop documentation throughout the software development life cycle (SDLC).
Mentor junior and mid-level developers and analysts.
