Original job description
Hut 8 brings exceptional people together to solve the world’s most consequential problems at the intersection of energy and technology. Today, that means building infrastructure for AI at a pace and scale without precedent. Tomorrow, it could mean powering a new era of innovation through robotics, advanced manufacturing, or an industry that does not yet exist. Whatever the technology demands, our ambition holds: to build the defining physical infrastructure company of our generation.
We look for thinkers and builders with the rigor, humility, and ownership to solve problems at this scale. They start from zero and choose truth over tradition. They back the best idea, whatever its source. They bet on themselves and embrace the hard truths that force them to grow. Our commitment is to keep the path from idea to execution short, trust them with critical decisions and the work that follows, and surround them with colleagues whose curiosity extends beyond their expertise.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Every data center Hut 8 builds depends on a particular list of materials that are expensive, commodity driven, and critical to get on time. This Sourcing Manager owns those categories.
The Sourcing Manager works cross-functionally with Engineering, Construction, Finance/AP, Legal, and Operations to protect project schedules and minimize material supply risk across capital projects.
Some of the responsibilities you can expect include the following:
- Own sourcing strategies for specialty construction materials including MV and LV cables, conduit, grounding systems, fiber, , and electrical distribution equipment across the full site supply chain.
- Lead RFQs and technical and commercial bid evaluations with Engineering, including approved manufacturers and approved equals
- Negotiate supply and frame agreements, including copper and aluminum price adjusters, tariff fluctuation strategies lead time commitments, and warranty terms
- Secure manufacturing slots for long lead equipment and track production against project schedules, identifying early risk indicators such as capacity constraints or sub-supplier delays
- Qualify and dual source critical suppliers so no single manufacturer can stop a project
- Partner with the procure-to-pay team so awarded agreements translate into accurate purchase orders, on time delivery, and payments aligned with contractual milestones
- Report category spend, savings, and supply risk, and recommend improvements that reduce risk and improve cash flow timing
ABOUT YOU
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain, Business, Engineering, or related field preferred (equivalent experience considered)
- 5+ years of experience in strategic sourcing or procurement of electrical materials and equipment for capital projects
- Demonstrated experience negotiating supply agreements with manufacturers and distributors, including metal price adjustment terms
- Comfortable reading single line diagrams, cable schedules, and equipment specifications at a commercial level
- Track record of managing long-leaded equipment and supplier capacity constraints
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving infrastructure or industrial environment
- Preferred: Data center, utility, or mission critical project experience; experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Coupa, Odoo)
