Data Center - Database Engineering

Job Title:Database Engineer – Database Migration & Automation Position Overview

Contribute to enterprise data center consolidation initiatives through database engineering, infrastructure automation, performance optimization, and large-scale database migration activities. This role combines relational database expertise with automation, data resiliency, and migration capabilities across relational, NoSQL, and in-memory database platforms.

What You'll Do / Key Responsibilities

• Automate infrastructure delivery using configuration orchestration and management solutions such as Ansible, Puppet, and Terraform.
• Develop and maintain scripts using PowerShell, Python, or UNIX Shell Scripting.
• Support relational database environments, including MS SQL Server, Oracle, and PostgreSQL.
• Implement and support database clustering and replication capabilities for disaster recovery.
• Diagnose and prevent database performance issues through SQL optimization and query tuning.
• Support migrations to NoSQL and in-memory database solutions, including MongoDB, DynamoDB, Redis, Memcached, and CouchDB.
• Perform database performance monitoring, tuning, and re-indexing activities.
• Manage database design, data definition language (DDL), and data migration strategies for relational database engines.

Required Qualifications

• Experience automating infrastructure delivery using configuration orchestration and management solutions such as Ansible, Puppet, or Terraform.
• Understanding of coding practices and development using a scripting language such as PowerShell, Python, or UNIX Shell Scripting.
• Experience with relational database management systems, emphasizing MS SQL Server, Oracle, and PostgreSQL.
• Understanding of database clustering and replication capabilities for disaster recovery.
• Experience with SQL and query optimization, including diagnosing and preventing potential performance problems.
• Experience with migrations to NoSQL solutions and in-memory databases at scale.
• Experience with database performance monitoring, tuning, and re-indexing.
• Knowledge of database design, DDL management, and data migration strategies for relational database engines.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with DevOps principles and CI/CD solutions such as GitLab or Jenkins.
• Software engineering experience with an emphasis on Java or Python development.
• Experience implementing service catalog automation for infrastructure services delivery.
• Incident triage experience, including scope determination, impact assessment, and service restoration.
• Experience with data resiliency activities focused on backup, recovery, and data management.
• Experience using extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) tools for data synchronization supporting analytics, data warehousing, and database migrations.
