Entry Product Engineer Description -
Job Description
This is an Entry-level Product Engineering position within HP’s imaging and printing business. Our print technology includes the merging of complex design constraints, the use of material combinations, and extensive product testing/qualification to deliver high quality products that provide excellent end user performance. This includes the combination and interaction of polymers, ceramics, metals, elastomers, multilayer films and electronics using mechanical, fluidic, electrical, adhesion, thermal, and chemical manufacturing processes. A product engineer monitors these processes to ensure product requirements are met or exceeded.
NPI Entry Product Engineering – What you will do
- Understand customer (product) and manufacturing (process) requirements. Partner with R&D to define quality requirements.
- Develop and characterize quality systems & test methods to minimize or eliminate risks and ensure the product meets the end-customer quality requirements. Using DOE characterization and subsequent results, refine specifications end-to-end (product to process) to ensure a shippable product. This includes material, process, and other variations.
- Partner with Southeast Asia high-volume counterparts to drive NPI transfer activities to high-volume manufacturing sites.
- Manage the qualification of change of the released product. Triage proto and production parts to determine the cause of failure. Drive root cause evaluation and issue resolution as problems arise in proto and production.
- Partner with other organizations to drive product investigations/issue escalations for released products.
- Understand data connectivity methods used in part tracking within and across factories. Work with IT partners to ensure data connectivity exists and that data retrieval is operationally correct as materials and parts/assemblies move from one factory to another, often across borders and continents.
- Access databases to retrieve needed critical process and product data using scripting tools to do so.
- Partner and support other key organizations such as the Fab, equipment/tooling design teams, product engineering, and printer teams.
- Assist with Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Development Effectiveness in new product development to reduce risk at the launch of new products.
- Collaborate with process and supply chain partners to design and complete margin studies to ensure we have a clear path to stability. Deliver clear documentation, reporting, and communication of your work.
- Ensure the capture of critical knowledge & conduct knowledge transfer.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical or Materials Engineering.
- Experience: 0-2 years in product engineering or similar engineering activities (Systems Interactions engineering, Writing Systems engineering).
- Leadership: Ability to work across organizations, including using influence to ensure all decisions are centered around customer quality. Ability to work with a team or product engineers to drive towards a common set of objectives.
Desirable skills as follows
- Solid understanding of physics and core engineering materials.
- Ability to broadly contribute in a fast-paced, industrial R&D environment.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Good planning, organizational, and documentation skills.
- Ability to give clear and effective presentations to inform and persuade peers and managers. Experience in CREO 3D/2D.
