Original job description

Background

Homeboy Threads (www.homeboythreads.com) is a certified social enterprise offering reuse and recycling services for apparel and textiles. Whether serving our customers as a one-stop-shop or as a partner in a broader program, we provide exceptional transparency and customizability coupled with unparalleled social impact. As part of Homeboy Industries, the world’s preeminent gang rehabilitation and re-entry program, we proudly train and employ people committed to transforming their lives after incarceration.

We are seeking a passionate and results-driven Business Development Manager – Circular Fashion to accelerate our growth and expand our strategic footprint. In this role, you will be the driving force behind establishing new commercial partnerships for revenue-generating programs - such as take-back programs, brand resale (re-commerce), 3PL services , and recycling services - with fashion brands, retailers, film studios, and supply chain partners. In addition, the BDM will represent Homeboy Threads externally to amplify our work and impact.

Responsibilities

  • Own the full sales funnel from prospecting and pitching through negotiation and execution, so that agreed-upon revenue targets and outcomes are met within established timelines.
  • Identify prospective customers and generate qualified leads
  • Maintain contact lists and follow up with prospects/customers to develop relationships
  • Engage deeply with customers to understand their evolving needs, customizing service offerings and delivering consultative solutions as needed.
  • Position Homeboy Threads as a mission-aligned partner, not just a vendor, for customers pursuing social impact and circularity goals.
  • Prepare detailed Statements of Work and RFP responses
  • Support the review and negotiation of contract agreements, ensuring alignment with organizational goals
  • Develop strategic partnerships that expand Homeboy Threads’ reach, capabilities, and impact
  • Maintain and grow a robust contact list
  • Proactively nurture relationships with partners and stakeholders
  • Look out for opportunities that could add business value to Homeboy Threads
  • Represent and amplify the Homeboy Threads brand through a robust external presence and strategic networking
  • Actively engage with stakeholders, partners, and ecosystem players to stay at the forefront of industry developments
  • Attend relevant events, speak on industry panels, and deliver presentations, both in-person and virtually, strategically selecting events to maximize organizational impact
  • Approximate event needs: 2–3 trade shows and 4–5 conferences (including travel and occasional evenings/weekends)

Collaborate effectively across departments, including operations, marketing, development, etc. to drive integrated business outcomes
