Title: School Traffic Supervisor Department: Police Department Status: Per Diem, hourly, non-benefitted, non-union Salary: $19.09 per hour up to 20.80 per hour through annual step progression.

Working under the general direction of the Chief of Police and Deputy Chiefs of Police, School Traffic Supervisors are responsible for directing traffic at assigned crossings to protect school children and to provide for the orderly movement of traffic.

General Duties and Responsibilities:

It is the duty and responsibility of the School Traffic Supervisor to:

1. Report directly to assigned crossing stations, be on time, and remain there until the conclusion of the assignment.
2. Ensure that children use the proper crossing locations and that no children are in the street while traffic is moving.
3. Be alert for present or potential traffic hazards in the area surrounding the assigned crossings. Submit to the Safety Officer a written report of any such hazards with a recommendation for remedial steps to be taken.
4. Report any dangerous behaviors or conflicts to the Safety Officer when necessary

Special Requirements:

A candidate for this position must have the ability to clear a CORI.
