We're the sole designer, builder and refueler of U.S. Navy nuclear aircraft carriers and one of two providers of U.S. Navy nuclear submarines. Our diverse and innovative team of professionals ranges from skilled trades to project managers, engineers and software developers to solution architects, technical subject matter experts, and system users. We collaborate together at the forefront of technology, manufacturing, and integration of the most powerful and survivable naval ships in the world. Want to be part of the team? Apply today! We look forward to meeting you.

The Role

Design and develop solutions to complex applications problems, system administration issues, or network concerns. Perform systems management and integration functions.

Provides senior level engineering support for enterprise platform operations across cloud environments, container orchestration systems, automation frameworks, and middleware services. Responsible for ensuring platform stability, security, performance, and compliance. Analyzes operational requirements, recommends technical improvements, and implements enhancements aligned with enterprise architectural standards. Performs regular patching and maintenance, supports server and container deployment pipelines, manages platform access processes, and responds to operational incidents and service requests. Ensures that enterprise platforms remain reliable, scalable, and aligned with organizational objectives.

Complete understanding and wide application of platform engineering principles, cloud and container operations, and modern DevOps practices. General knowledge of related disciplines such as systems architecture, cybersecurity, networking, and automation engineering. Demonstrates the ability to provision and support Kubernetes based platforms, cloud service environments, CI/CD pipelines, windows/linux servers, and enterprise middleware components. Experienced in maintaining the integrity and performance of distributed systems, planning and executing upgrades, improving observability, and optimizing runtime environments.

Problem Solving

Demonstrates advanced troubleshooting abilities across hybrid cloud systems, platform services, and container orchestration environments. Capable of diagnosing issues that span infrastructure, automation pipelines, and distributed workloads.

Discretion / Latitude

Operates under minimal supervision and independently determines approaches for resolving operational issues and implementing platform improvements. Work is reviewed upon completion for alignment with performance, security, and reliability objectives.

Impact

Contributes directly to the reliability and availability of enterprise platforms. Failure to achieve expected results may lead to disruptions in mission critical systems, delays in key initiatives, or significant organizational impact requiring substantial remediation efforts.

Liaison
