Our Story

Founded in 2008, Hightower is a wealth management firm that provides investment, financial and retirement planning services to individuals, foundations and family offices, as well as 401(k) consulting and cash management services to corporations. Hightower’s capital solutions, operational support services, size and scale empower its vibrant community of independent-minded wealth advisors to grow their businesses and help their clients achieve their financial vision. Based in Chicago with advisors across the U.S., we operate as a registered investment advisor (RIA).

Your Future Team

The Business and Data Operations Associate will support the daily activities of the Business and Data Operations team within Hightower's Service and Integrations organization. Reporting to the Manager, Business and Data Operations, you will help maintain the accuracy and integrity of client, account, and transaction data across Hightower’s technology systems. This requires developing and maintaining a sound understanding of cross-system operational workflows so you can assess an account's full state and remediate issues accurately. You will investigate and resolve data discrepancies, collaborate with corporate teams, and support advisor teams by responding to questions and providing timely follow-up through resolution. You will be a proactive self-starter with a strong service mindset who takes ownership, anticipates next steps, and provides advisor teams with a responsive, positive experience. Natural curiosity and an eagerness to learn across the organization are essential.

What You’ll Do

  • Support Data Remediation: Maintain a deep understanding of Hightower’s processes and technology systems. Process and track all data remediation needs, including data analysis, triage to other internal departments, and corresponding field outreach required for remediation.
  • Process Improvement: Collaborate with the Manager to identify trends and business processes that present opportunities to establish standardized business rules within the data governance process. Identify automation opportunities and reduce manual review/action. Offer feedback and suggestions to the Manager regarding pain points, areas for improvement, and other recommendations to improve and automate data remediation processes. Perform root-cause analysis to identify underlying issues and recommend enhancements to systems and processes that prevent recurrence.
  • Data Discrepancy Investigation: Help identify and investigate data inconsistencies across different systems. Develop an understanding of how related data and business processes flow across systems and assess downstream impacts when issues occur. Collaborate with field teams and corporate teams to gather information and clarify discrepancies.
  • Field Outreach: Coordinate with our advisor teams to address data issues, gather missing information, and ensure that data entry processes are followed at the source.
  • Stakeholder Inquiries: Manage inquiries from both internal and external stakeholders to ensure a positive client experience and accurate data remediation.
  • Data Updates and Correction: Perform data entry, updates, and corrections across multiple systems, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain records of data discrepancies, remediation actions, and updates made in systems. Help create reports to monitor improvements in data quality. Monitor and report ongoing activities to the Manager to ensure all recurring processes are addressed and within predefined Service level agreements.
  • Ad Hoc Support: Contribute to data quality initiatives, system and process changes, integrations, and other cross-functional projects as business needs evolve. Provide data cleanup, research, advisor outreach, testing, and operational support as needed.

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 1-3 years’ experience in Operations or similar role in the Financial Services field.
  • Experience working with multiple technology platforms and systems, preferably Custodians and/or Financial Performance Reporting systems. Demonstrated interest in understanding how data and business processes interconnect across systems.
  • Experience with the operational details of RIA business functions (IT, Finance, Operations, Compliance) preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills, with a focus on accuracy, thoroughness, and identifying root causes.
  • Ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks accordingly. Proactive and self-directed, with the ability to anticipate next steps and move work forward without waiting for detailed direction. Naturally curious and eager to learn across functions rather than remaining focused only on assigned tasks.

What We Offer

  • Paid parental leave (16 weeks for primary caregiver and 8 weeks for secondary caregiver)
  • Mother’s lounge onsite
  • Flexible PTO plan
