Original job description

High Point Networks is a leading provider of information technology solutions in both SMB and enterprise-level markets, servicing customers from coast to coast. We specialize in anything that spans your network, data center, phone system and endpoints with a strong security focus across all things IT. Our Headquarters is in West Fargo, North Dakota with additional regional offices throughout the Midwest.

When you become part of our team, your career opportunities are endless. We offer our team members competitive compensation and world-class benefits. Our culture is easy to live but hard to describe. Come see exactly what it means to be a part of the High Point Networks team.

JOB SUMMARY

The Inside Sales Associate works closely with our sales team and supports a full range of sales needs in a fast-paced work environment, while addressing internal and external customer questions and concerns in a professional and timely manner. This role assists with maintaining profitable business relationships and represents High Point Networks in a positive manner.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Working Across Teams

Clear ownership is how we stay organized, not a reason to say no. When a customer need crosses team lines, start with yes and work it out together.
When anyone needs help that you can give, help them reach a successful outcome, even when the work isn’t yours to own, and tell your manager if it affects your own work.

Client Relationship Management

Answer customer inquiries.
Communicate with customers, keeping them informed of progress and notifying them of impending schedule changes.
Maintain excellent customer service and satisfaction.

Sales Processes and Support

Prepare bids and quotes for the Account Manager.
Complete deal registration with manufacturers.
Serve as liaison between Account Managers and the Service department.
Update NetSuite as appropriate with opportunity status, win/loss data, and customer/vendor information.
Maintain logs of activity in NetSuite on Cases.
Obtain pricing and request quotes from manufacturers.
Track and follow up on expiration dates of all special pricing from manufacturers.
Accurately maintain and comply with documentation and administrative procedures.
Develop knowledge of HPN solutions and how they relate to customer needs.
Maintain documentation and follow internal team processes and procedures.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Collaborate with sales and service teams to develop proposals and close deals.
Work with internal teams (engineering, support, implementation) to ensure successful delivery of IT solutions throughout the customer lifecycle.
Route service and project issues to Service Desk and Dispatch, which assigns the Project Manager or engineer; bring relationship or commercial issues to the Account Manager.
Work in a team environment, be a team player, and communicate effectively.
Attend required company and departmental meetings.

Other

Responsible for entering time and expenses as they occur.
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

Excellent verbal and written communication, particularly for customer and internal coordination via phone and email.
Ability to collaborate and work as a team.
Self-motivated and self-starter.
Ability to build trust and long-term working relationships with clients and internal stakeholders.
Time management and multitasking.
Analytical thinking capabilities.
Ability to learn and use CRM tools (e.g., NetSuite and CPQ).
General computer capabilities.

Education

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent education or experience.

What are key measurements?

Strong working relationships with Account Managers and customers.
Deep enough product and process knowledge to support bids, quotes, and deal registration accurately.
Seamless coordination between sales, service, and engineering teams.
Bid and quote accuracy and turnaround time.
Deal registration completion rate and timeliness.
CRM data accuracy and completeness (opportunity status, win/loss data, activity logs).
Timely tracking and follow-up on special-pricing expiration dates.
Escalation routing: issues routed to Service Desk and Dispatch or the Account Manager without delay.
Peer and Account Manager feedback on responsiveness and teamwork.

What are key rewards?

Profit sharing.
Mentorship opportunities.
Career advancement as opportunities arise.

What are consequences for non-success?

Missed Targets: recurring bid/quote errors or missed deal-registration deadlines may affect performance rating.
Limited Career Progression: lack of results can delay promotions or leadership opportunities.
Success Plans: formal coaching and goal-setting initiated to address gaps, with performance reassessed within a defined window (typically one to two quarters); if performance does not improve within that window, outcomes may include a continued success plan or role change.
Team Impact: recurring errors or delays may increase workload and rework for Account Managers and the Inside Sales team.
