Let's skip the fluff. Here's the deal, and then you can decide.

THE DEAL

You work the yard and local runs around Phoenix, about 40 hours a week, and you sleep in your own bed every night. Starting pay is $23.00 to $24.50 an hour, with time-and-a-half once you pass 40 hours. Most drivers bring in around $1,200 a week, or roughly $62,400 a year.

THE CATCH (we'd rather you hear it from us)

• It's physical work, and you're outside in the Arizona heat and the cooler months
• Weekend work is required
• Christmas is the main holiday you'll have off

THE UPSIDE

• Day and night shifts to choose from
• No-touch freight, so you're moving trailers, not unloading them
• Overtime actually pays more than straight time here

THE FIT CHECK

• 6 months of OTR experience after training in the last 12 months, or 12 months of experience in the past 5 years
• You live within 50 miles of the hub
• You're fine with urine and hair follicle drug screening
