Local Retail Driver: Syracuse, NY Schedule

• Off-peak: Monday to Saturday, with Sunday plus one non-consecutive weekday off
• Peak: Sunday to Saturday with 1 day off. July to October and January run 6 days; November and December run a fixed 6-on, 1-off pattern
• Usual 9:00 AM start (a few early dispatches), 12 to 14 hour shifts, deliveries ending as late as 8:30 PM
• Saturdays may be required around Memorial Day, Independence Day, Back to School and Labor Day
• Off on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Eve Day
• After Christmas, inventory shutdown can last days to a week with little or no work. You can cover other accounts, use PTO or take unpaid time

Pay

• Averages about $92,000 a year
• $0.69 to $0.83 per mile
• $53.61 to $56.81 per pallet for hand unloading
• $38.29 to $40.56 per stop
• $25.00 to $28.58 per hour for yard work
• $20 per hour for onboarding (moves to activity pay during training) and safety training
• $200 per day holiday pay

The work

• Pick up preloaded trailers and make 4 to 5 stops a day (about 22 a week) at TJ Maxx and Marshalls stores within 275 miles of Syracuse
• Upstate NY only, no NYC or metro area
• Unload pallets with a pallet jack into store backrooms; about half the stops have no dock and need a liftgate
• Count pallets, note quantities on the BOL, report discrepancies and secure the load between stops
• You may sometimes help at local accounts or warehouses

Equipment

• Freightliner and International day cabs
• 48-foot and 53-foot trailers

Requirements

• Valid Class A license
• At least 6 months of tractor-trailer experience
• Urine and hair follicle drug screening
• Your own reliable transportation to work
• 3 to 7 days of training, depending on experience
